I appreciate not everyone likes this name, but just wondering if there is anyone on here who does!

I'm sure it suits your lovely daughter very well OP.

timeisfreebutitspriceless · 16/11/2015 08:12

I've already explained the reason why I asked, twice

Restrict her life choices?? Seriously?

Only1scoop · 16/11/2015 08:12

Didn't realise you'd already named DC.

Hey ho

timeisfreebutitspriceless · 16/11/2015 08:13

I don't understand how it's going to restrict her life choices?

But you asked if anyone 'liked it'? Confused

Not if anyone knew one?

Footle · 16/11/2015 08:15

It isn't going to restrict anything. If she doesn't like it, she'll call herself Grace or Lynn.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 16/11/2015 08:16

I don't think it will restrict her life choices but I personally don't like it. Doesn't matter what I think though!

BreeVDKamp · 16/11/2015 08:29

Well I like it. I don't see why sounding 'American' is a bad thing? Even if you don't have a connection to America it's fine, I know loads of English people with Welsh/French/Irish/Greek names and no connection to that country.

AuntieStella · 16/11/2015 08:37

It's not to my taste (and plenty of names aren't) but I don't see anything wrong with it.

For some reason it makes me think of Vera Lynne and Gracie Fields.

MooseAndSquirrel · 16/11/2015 10:03

How on earth will it restrict life choices??
I have the same full name as a very famous actress (if ur over 30 anyways) it always gets commented on in interviews, but then at least I'm remembered (and I've never gone for an interview and not got the job!)
My girls have simple classic names which I love, but having a slightly odd name/connection does not limit your life choices ffs!!
Although I'm not a fan, bit too trailer park for me although cant judge as wanted to have rae in DD2s name and was told it was hillybilly sounding

Anastasie · 16/11/2015 10:12

It's unusual and not bad, I like Grace but the name 'Lynn' doesn't do it for me at all, therefore anything with it added on is worse rather than better iyswim? Smile

It's personal taste though. I don't get why so many people are called Lynn in the first place. Does it have a meaning?

Anastasie · 16/11/2015 10:15

Also it's a bit more of an effort to say than some names - it doesn't 'flow' iyswim? There are a lot of consonants in there.

It's by no means a horrible name and I have seen much, much worse on here frequently. But it is an unusual combination, and as such will make people go '?'

SilverOldie2 · 16/11/2015 20:30

Really don't like it but Grace is lovely.

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/11/2015 20:32

I don't like it, it's two names slotted together badly.

FunkyPeacock · 16/11/2015 20:34

No I don't but I've heard much worse and she will always have the option of shortening it to Grace

Declaring it will restrict her life choices is a little OTT!

If you like it OP then that is what counts

Secondtimeround75 · 16/11/2015 20:45

No

Mydearchild · 16/11/2015 20:47

My middle name is Lynn and I don't like it at all. You love her name though and that's all that maters. Personally I would have gone with Grace or Gracie

Madbengalmum · 16/11/2015 20:49

Sounds like something britney spears would call her daughter, yuck, sorry

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 16/11/2015 20:52

Grace is beautiful and elegant, don't ruin it.

MamaLazarou · 16/11/2015 21:15

I love it - sounds like a Southern debutante. Much nicer than plain Grace.

I like it too.

fastdaytears · 16/11/2015 21:26

I'm surprised that you don't think it's unusual.

Grace and Gracie are lovely but GraceLynn (apologies if the capital isn't right) is actually quite awkward to say.

Anyway your daughter can always shorten if she doesn't like it in the future, and if she does like it then that's all that matters.

janethegirl2 · 16/11/2015 21:30

Gracelynn would not be on my shortlist, Grace is ok as is Lynne but not together. Seems very 'chavvy' as a name. Grace as first name and Lynne as middle name is preferable (although I wouldn't go for it ).
