Is it pronounced Lee-on-dray or Lee-own-dray?

I prefer Le-on-dray, although I can't say I am overly keen on it. Why not just go for Leo straight off? I reckon it's just as common if not more common than the longer names.

Wishsicles · 13/11/2015 00:16

It is pronounced Le-on-dray and I want a less common name, aha...

I like it Smile

I also like Leon.

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/11/2015 11:23

I'd assume it was French and would pronounce it (or try to at least!) as lee-on-druh.

I prefer plain old Leo.

Sophronia · 13/11/2015 12:03

I prefer Leandre.

celtictoast · 13/11/2015 12:43

I'd assume it was Lay-on-druh.

Leopold? Leo by itself is very nice though.

Glitterspy · 13/11/2015 12:45

I love Leo but really dislike Leondre, it reminds me of Lenor for some reason.

Glitterspy · 13/11/2015 12:46

Sorry if that post sounded unhelpful! Have you thought about Leonie?

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 13/11/2015 12:48

Is it male or female? Guessing male if you're thinking Leo but not certain.

scarlettf0x · 13/11/2015 12:49

Makes me think of Leonidas chocolates.

It doesn't sound like a name.

mumblebumble · 13/11/2015 12:51

I don't like it, sorry. Prefer Leonardo or Leon with Leo for short.

SirChenjin · 13/11/2015 12:54

Don't like it, sorry.

ICantSpellNoffink · 13/11/2015 12:57

It sounds like a American made up name name. I'm not a fan of it but it's ok. I would assume the pronunciation would emphasis the dray sound at the end.

I prefer Leander or Leollan (although Leollan sounds made up too Smile )

celtictoast · 13/11/2015 13:02

Or Leonard

Anastasie · 13/11/2015 13:02

Nope
sorry

Anastasie · 13/11/2015 13:02

Lee Andre

Peter Andre's quiet brother

MrsCaecilius · 13/11/2015 13:40

I agree with Icantspellnoffink sounds Jerry Springer to me.

Leo though I like!

Emmmder2015 · 13/11/2015 15:41

I know a Leandre. It's not my favorite name but I don't hate it.

It is one that he'll spend his life having to spell out and be mispronounced, unless he lives in France. I imagine it would be similar (apart from if he was in France, where he'd also need to spell it out and have it mispronounced) if it was Leondre.

PurpleDaisies · 13/11/2015 15:45

I don't like it either sorry. To me it sounds like you were stuck between Leon and Andre so made something up.

I really like Leo as a name in it's own right though.

doceodocere · 13/11/2015 16:38

I like it but find the pronunciation issues off-putting. Leander is easier and you could still use Leo as a nn.

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 13/11/2015 16:46

Wasn't he the character in the first season of The Wire who got involved in drug dealing and ended up murdered in prison?

Gemmy1983 · 13/11/2015 18:02

Sounds African American. Like an nfl or nba player.
