Alexandria or Alexandra?

We just can't decide!

And what for a middle name? We feel it should be short (1-2 syllables) given length of first name and it shouldn't end in an 'ah' sound, but other than that we're drawing a blank.

TIA Smile

Excellent name choice Wink - you'll find a lot of Lexi haters on here btw but I like it as a nickname. We loved the fact there were lots of shortenings and nicknames ranging from girly to tomboy.

I like Alexandra best with short middle names - Kate, Rose, Grace etc.

Alexandra is lovely. I like Sasha as a nn :)
Alexandra Kate sprang to mind. Or Alexandra Beth, Blythe, Joy.
Alexandria is a just a place name to me

SchnooSchnoo · 11/11/2015 20:07

I disagree with those saying she'll end up correcting it. My middle name is Alexandra and nine times out of ten people read it as Alexandria or Alexander Confused

However, Alexandra is much nicer in my opinion Grin

SchnooSchnoo · 11/11/2015 20:12

And don't forget Xandra as a potential nn.

Bodicea · 12/11/2015 22:46

Alexandra

Wishsicles · 12/11/2015 22:49

Alexandra Grace or Alexandra Faith :)

Queen Victoria was actually an Alexandrina (just to add in another option).

My sister was Alexandra Mary (but she was always known as Alex).

Sgtmajormummy · 13/11/2015 09:47

Is Alexandria even a person's name?
AFAIK it's only a city, as PP have said.

SquirrelledAway · 13/11/2015 10:03

Wiki lists Alexandria as an English variant of the name Alexandra.

StDogolphin · 13/11/2015 16:41

How about Alexandra Athena :)

BlackbirdSingsInTheDeadOfNight · 13/11/2015 16:43

I know an Alexandria. She's known to everyone as Ali.

Rshard · 13/11/2015 21:20

I have an Alexandra Louise, we have a long last name too so her full name is pretty long! She's known primarily as Alex but it also gets
shortened further to Al, which I hated but have grown rather used to!
Someone upthread mentioned Sasha, popular Russian nn which my dd loves but our last name begins with a sh sound so way to much shushing!! Alexandra is a gorgeous name, still love it 10 years later

Oysterbabe · 15/11/2015 21:56

Alexa.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 16/11/2015 10:19

Alexandra Skye (if your surname doesn't start with S!).

I was going to suggest
Alexandra Liberty
but you say prefer a shorter middle name, (and it will be kinder when she's filling forms).
