Our first baby (don't know sex!) is due in a couple of weeks and we've slightly been going round in circles with regards to names! I keep over thinking every idea and am feeling a little overwhelmed by the responsibility of naming another person!
This is our current shortlist...any thoughts and opinions would be gratefully received!

Girls:
Romily (nn Romy)
Iris
Nell

Boys:
Ezra
Otto
Remy (poss short for Emerson??)

Personally Otto will Always remind me of a Fish Called Wanda.
I like for girls Iris, but I like all your choices.

Cant think about Remy, like Ezra

autumnmoon · 08/11/2015 11:12

I like all your girls names, esp Iris.

Nell is a nn for Ellen so I'd use that.

Not so keen on your boys names but that's just me. Other similar sounding names are:

Otis
Rex
Rumeh
Rudy

Love Romilly and Ezra!

IoraRua · 08/11/2015 11:41

Really hate Romilly. Iris is nice. Nell not great, I'd use it as a nickname for something.

I like Ezra and Otto. Not a fan of Remerson, it seems a bit pompous, but Remy as a nickname is nice.

IoraRua · 08/11/2015 11:42

Bah - Emerson, not Remerson!

WooLulu · 08/11/2015 13:25

Romily is nice. Iris is lovely. I know a Nell who is short for Eleanor which is also lovely.

Of the boy's choices I'd only really consider Otto.

manicinsomniac · 08/11/2015 15:43

I really like Romilly, Iris and Emerson.

Quite like Ezra

Don't like Otto, Nell and Remy

BunchOfBobs · 08/11/2015 16:33

I adore Nell. When I have a dd I want to name her that. I'd probably refer to her as Nelly then Nell when older. I like it on its own, not as a shortened version of Ellen or Elenor. Iris is also lovely.

I love Ezra for your boys choice. Otto reminds me of Otto Mann and Remy of Ratatouille, BUT it really doesn't matter what people say on here, it's your child to name. Everyone could say they hate our shortlist but they aren't naming your child.

HTH

mumblebumble · 08/11/2015 17:11

Like Otto and Emerson, but I'm not sure I get Remy as a nickname for it? Love Romily.

MrsMolesworth · 08/11/2015 17:16

I like Romy and Nell but not Iris. Nell is favourite. Could be short for Helena, Eleanor etc. I'd give a full name and abbreviate it, not give just the nickname iyswim. It gives them more options later in life.

Love both Ezra and Otto. Remy is OK. Makes me think of the brandy Remy Martin. Not keen on Emerson though. Very 1980s trailer park. That sounds snobby but that's how it sounds.

GothJoose · 08/11/2015 17:20

Romilly was on my list. It's fantastic. I know the feeling though regarding the responsibility - I sometimes think we'd were a bit blasé, there was only one name we could agree on at 20 weeks and it stuck!

Not particularly keen on your boy suggestions I'm afraid.Otto would be my choice

VictoriaaaJohnsonnn · 08/11/2015 17:50

If I had to choose, I would pick Iris and Otto Smile

celtictoast · 08/11/2015 19:13

Nell or Ezra.

WaitroseEssentialPancetta · 08/11/2015 19:15

I like Romy and Remy, even more so if it's twins.

fruitpastille · 08/11/2015 19:24

I like the girls names. I don't like the boys names, they are a bit 'out there' for me.

pinkymadam · 08/11/2015 21:11

Thanks for all the opinions! Definitely given me food for thought. Hopefully when the baby comes, I'll just know what it's meant to be called! Confused

Rémy or Rémi is a French name and not short for anything. We are considering it as we have a French surname.

Elis1905 · 10/11/2015 16:02

Romily and Ezra!
