We prefer short and strong boys name, struggling with these names:

Lucas
Oscar
Daniel
Charles (Charlie for NN)
Ray (stand alone)
Henry

I love Leo and Luke a lot, but they have been taken by friends.Sad

Goodness - you are allowed to use Leo and Luke you know they haven't been "taken" at all. Also - Lucas and Luke are pretty much the same name Confused

I wouldn't have Lucas, Oscar or Henry personally, they sound ever so middle class. and "Oh, Lucas/Oscar/Henry! Do come here and eat your hummus!"
And depending where you are in the world, he will probably be ina class with 2-3 others of the same name. So if you're happy with him being Oscar S (the first letter of your surname) for his school life, then great!

Ray doesn't "go" with the other names. Seems a bit odd in this list, but a nice name.

I'd go for Daniel out of all these - good solid name, not used very much (where I'm from) good nn for all ages 'Danny' when little, 'Dan' when older as more 'grown up' version.

Other similar names

George
James
Michael
Nicholas
William

Love Charlie. Agree not Lucas if you can't use Luke.

I only like Ray.

The rest are very....meh.

happystory · 05/11/2015 07:14

I like Ray, so unusual these days.

Clueing4looks · 05/11/2015 07:21

I love Ray - it's my dad's name!

I like Lucas and disagree with PP. My sister has a Lucas and she's a working class cockney who has never eaten hummus in her life!

00100001 · 05/11/2015 07:22

Lucas is still a ridiculously popular name though!

Clueing4looks · 05/11/2015 07:26

Maybe so. I really don't understand all this 'avoiding popular name' fad. There are over 43000 towns and cities in the UK and the 'top of the list' names were given to 5000ish babies last year. The likelihood of them all living in the same area is slim.

00100001 · 05/11/2015 07:33

the only time it's a problem is if the parents get pissy about them being "Oscar C" for their school life :)

ThursdayLastWeek · 05/11/2015 07:37

I only really like Ray, so much so it's going on my own list.
I wouldn't use Daniel myself, but think it is a good solid name that will actually stand out from all the Henry's Harry's and Freddie's.

ThursdayLastWeek · 05/11/2015 07:37

If of course you care about that, like a PP said, it's hardly the end of the world!

pilates · 05/11/2015 09:27

Henry

Albert?

Etak15 · 05/11/2015 09:36

I like Daniel and Henry.
Oscar makes me think of Oscar pistorius! Also I know a few people use it as a pets name.
I like ray for a dad but not for a baby!

Salene · 05/11/2015 09:37

I only like Charles or Henry off that list

Artandco · 05/11/2015 09:37

Ray Henry Charles

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/11/2015 10:31

Only like Ray and Oscar. But Oscars are everywhere. Ray is certainly very cute and more or less unheard of now for a baby.
Daniel and Charles I just don't like but Lucas and Henry. Are IMO are 2 of the worse boys names there are.

yeOldeTrout · 05/11/2015 10:43

Oscar, Charles & Lucas are screaming wimp frilly names in my mind. OH well, we are all different. Short & strong I think of:

Craig
Liam
Mark
Ryan
John
Michael (& some nns)
Drew

Sophronia · 05/11/2015 11:09

Daniel or Ray.

celtictoast · 05/11/2015 13:06

I like Leo, Luke, Daniel, Charles and Henry.

RiverTam · 05/11/2015 13:13

I love Lucas, but hate Luke. Is it inevitable? I don't know any, though I know 2 called Luca, neither are called Luke as far as I know.

Ray is great!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/11/2015 20:24

Love Lucas and Luke. Like Oscar. Daniel okay. Dislike Charles. Hate Ray and Henry.
