Is Henry too posh / popular?

We live in London and are struggling with names for our baby boy who's due at Christmas. We'd like something that is fairly international (we are English / German). Henry has been high on the list for some reason but I'm a bit worried that it might be regarded as too posh (or wannabe posh). At the same time it seems to climb up the popularity list. Our daughter is called Sophia and there were four of them in her nursery class - something I'd like to avoid! Any opinions? Or alternative suggestions?

I like Henry and don't think of it as too posh at all. It's a James name to me - classic.

Very nice and not posh. As Swedish said it's a classic.

Love Henry

Sophronia · 23/10/2015 19:05

I think it used to be quite posh but now it's very popular/mainstream.

Love Henry!

CelestiaLuna · 23/10/2015 20:21

Not posh at all but very popular

CelestiaLuna · 23/10/2015 20:25

How about Hans? Classic, a nod to German ancestry and very uncommon

Zhabr · 23/10/2015 20:45

Nicholas nn Klaus

DickDewy · 23/10/2015 20:47

Very nice, non posh name.

Mrsindecision · 23/10/2015 22:29

What about Henrik? The German equivalent of Henry. Great name IMO.

LostAtTheFair · 23/10/2015 23:21

Henry is gorgeous IMO

I have a Henry and wouldn't say it was all that posh (he was named after a family member but there were Henrys on both side of the family). However, it is quite popular, we often meet random people at the park whose son is also Henry. If that is important to you, then Henrik could be nice (if you like it).

Thank you all, some interesting suggestions and comments here.

Classic but v popular so maybe not for you if you're concerned about popularity. Having said that, you can never predict how many will be in his class so perhaps go with what you love. English/German parents I know have a Magnus which I like.

Love Henry! Its a timeless classic

DeepBlueLake · 27/10/2015 10:35

Henry is very popular now and not as posh as it was say 20 years ago.

MrsCaecilius · 27/10/2015 12:12

Henry is a classic. Not too posh, not too anything, just firm, stolid and sound. Good choice!

PurpleTreeFrog · 27/10/2015 12:14

Henry is a hoover...

Henry is a lovely name, was my choice for a 3rd if I'd have had one. It's classic and timeless, but not as popular as say George or Thomas.

squoosh · 27/10/2015 12:29

Not too long ago it was a posh name. It's more mainstream now.
