Eloise?

Really struggle to pick a name for baby girl due in 4 weeks. Want something classic and elegant, not too out there but not too popular either. Ideally something that isn't going to shout 'born in 2015' or hit the top name lists imminently.

What do you think of Eloise? What image does it conjure up for you?

Any other suggestions? I also love Emily, Olivia (but both v popular!), Alice, Beatrice (DH not keen). Can't use Elizabeth or Charlotte.

Thanks!

Nice and not too popular. I know of 1 and she's 5.
Also like Alice.

I find it very difficult to say for some reason. My mouth stumbles around the sound. I am sure I am in the minority!

I'm not keen on Eloise, how about Louisa instead?

ATrueNerd · 21/10/2015 15:51

Like it Smile classic but interesting and pretty.

I love Eloise, classic, pretty and not over popular. Have you considered Octavia, a name which also meets your requirements?

My DD is Eloise. We were like you in wanting something classic but not necessarily popular/top 100 etc. It has grown on me more and more and am glad with the choice. Have met one or two others since she was born but not loads. Most people's response when we named her was that it is a feminine yet strong name and when grown up she could be anything, from a doctor or lawyer to something more creative...florist, interior designer etc.

My 8 yr old is Eloise. Fab name! Was going to be Olivia then saw how popular it was. Don't come across many others which I like. Thought we'd end up shortening it to Ella or Ellie but usually call her 'Wheezy' (or Wiezzy as she insists on spelling it!)

Beautiful Smile I had a book when I was little about a fairy called Eloise, so it reminds me of all things pretty and sparkly Grin

It's a bit too much like Louise. I know a couple under 2 so it may be becoming popular.

CPtart · 26/10/2015 07:23

I like it, as long as it's not shortened to some frilly over thought nn. Also love Louisa and Elise.

I love it too.
