Love Leo - what other names would I like?

I love the name Leo but can't use it sadly. Please could you give me some other suggestions?

I like reasonably classic names, and they also have to work in French (but I'm not a huge fan of very French names, my DH has one of the few I like!)

The only names I can think of that I don't hate aren't particularly inspiring me:
Joseph - Joe
Benjamin - Ben
Sebastian / Sébastien - Seb (wouldn't use because of different spellings)

Help!

Hi, we have an Anglo-French partnership in my family. there are many that have only a slight difference in spelling but are essentially equally recognisable in both countries.
Assuming it is for a boy there are actually quite a few; I personal like the following:
Adrien
Alain
Alexandre
Anton -yes! (but not Bruno!)
Christien
Roger
David
Isaac
Gerard
Georges
Luc
Marc
Martin
Nicholas
Leon ???
Julien
Oliver
Paul
Philip
Richard
Robert
Roland
Tristan
Thierry
Thomas

International footballers have done us a favour here...
Good luck!

Thanks all.

I quite like Felix... provided I can shake the association in my mind with cats and cat food!

I also like Max (full name could be Maxim).

Leon and Theo are too similar to Leo. Plus I want to avoid "th" in the name as the French pronounce it differently (as if it's a "t" with no "h").

DH likes Louis but I'm not too convinced, I worry that people would pronounce it "Lewis".

Sorry, wrong keyboard. Jerome, even.

I'd like the name to work in French (ie not sound like an ugly mangled version of the English) but I don't want an obviously French name, if that makes sense?

So definitely not Etienne, Pascal etc

Leo was on our list (although DH vetoed it) along with Louis, Noah, Joseph, Benjamin. I now have two boys with the last two names in that list Smile

Also like (which could work)

Quite like your suggestion of Maxim.
