What do you think?

Classic and pretty or just terribly old fashioned?

Beautiful. I really like it.

Owllady · 22/09/2015 21:34

I was going to post I prefer Marianne, like lots of people here it seems!

Finallyonboard · 22/09/2015 21:41

I prefer Merial or Merin.

Rosaaa · 23/09/2015 11:42

I really like it. It's simple and pretty

horsewalksintoabar · 23/09/2015 11:43

I love Marion! Or Marian as in Maiden Marian.

Narp · 24/09/2015 18:45

Prefer

Marianne

Erimemushinteperem · 24/09/2015 19:02

Junosmum · 25/09/2015 11:20

I thought Marion used to be a boy name?

Marian or marianne for a girl...

clarabellski · 01/10/2015 12:54

Marion is on our current shortlist for our growing parasite (which is actually pretty long Blush). As a girl's name though (sorry John Wayne).

PrimalLass · 01/10/2015 13:18

No.

MarySmilingAndHerBrassieres · 01/10/2015 13:24

I like Marian but it makes me think of The Go Between. Then I think of the awesome ass-kicking Maid Marian in the 90s CBBC series - she was so cool!

youngestisapsycho · 01/10/2015 13:41

I love Miriam, a friend has just named her DD. My mother in law is a Marianne.

mathanxiety · 01/10/2015 20:27

Marion is the male version. It was John Wayne's real name.

For a girl, I think Marian is more usual in English.

mathanxiety · 01/10/2015 20:29

In answer to your question though, I say classic and pretty, and puzzlingly underused.

BoldFox · 02/10/2015 21:30

I prefer Marianne. Marion is ok but nms, it's a boy''s name. It's not used any more probably but Istill think 'man's name'.

I love Miriam.

carmugz · 02/10/2015 21:37

I have not heard it in real life but i like it a lot.

being negative, it could be associated with a person 60+ as i know a few of my mum's friends/acquaintances called that but i really like it and think it would be cute for a baby/little girl.

we liked mariella.
