Boys Names - Unusual but not Weird?

Hello! DH & I have discussed names on and off since long before we decided to start trying, and have about a zillion girls names to choose from, but we struggle with names for a boy.

My absolute all time favourite doesn't go with our surname at all, his favourite is far too wacky, and another few have already been 'taken' by family or close friends.

It seems most names I suggest DH can come up with someone we know/knew/have heard of who isn't a nice guy!

So far I have a few on a shortlist that neither of us actually hate. Any opinions?

Ansel
Arlo
Cole
Sebastian
Ethan (but begins with same letter as our surname. His initials would forever remind me of Kevin Bacon Hmm )

I love Cole! Would be on our list but it sounds too similar to our surname. All nice names though but Cole is my favourite of those four.

I loved Emmett and Elliott but ended up calling ds2 Ethan Grin

BreeVDKamp · 12/09/2015 07:22

I love Archer!! Already on our list :)

I also really love Asher but DS is Joseph so if his brother was Asher I'd forever be singing Jacob & Sons from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolur Dreamcoat at them...

I think Sebastian, Arlo and Ethan are all popular these days.

I met an adorable Cole once and really like the name, works for man or boy!

Ansel isnt my cup of tea.

Aidric
John (I'm really not taking the piss, you hardly ever meet a John these days)
Wolfgang (I do know a nearly four year old one)

CruCru · 12/09/2015 13:52

Jonas

GoldPlatedShitGibbon · 12/09/2015 13:52

I love Asa too.

My hypothetical next child would be Heath or Lowell.

y0rkier0se · 12/09/2015 13:59

Don't like Cole but love Ambrose, Angus and Fabian

Icklepickle101 · 13/09/2015 14:32

As my all time favourite name (Noah) is now very popular, I will suggest my 2nd ever favourite name - Bodhi.

Not to everyone's taste but I love it and it has a lovely meaning

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 13/09/2015 22:43

Evan.

I will keep suggesting this name until someone uses it Grin. I love Archer as well, we can't use it because a family member decided it was better on their dog instead (to be fair, they didn't know it was on our 'list').
