What girls names would I like? I'm really struggling to find old fashioned girls names that I love. Eldest DD suggested Edith (which was my Great Grans name and I do love it) however with all the Evie/Eva/etc around it does put me off slightly.

Youngest DD wouldn't like that, she's an avid Who fan and doesn't like Martha. DD is 4, by the way Grin

Iris

I was going to suggest Iris Jemima - great minds think alike! Iris is my Nan's name and she's an absolute hero.

My other nan (equally as wonderful) is called Irene!

Both names I think are really beautiful and lovely - but I am obviously biased by a lot of sentiment!

My boy will be called Arthur. I've got an Ivy already if that helps? Also like Elsie, Alice, Elizabeth (nn Betsy, Betty, Beth, Liza etc).

I love Arthur, it's my son's middle name, and I have a daughter called Tabitha. For theoretical future daughters I like Cecily and Josephine (nn Josie).

I have an Arthur. Dd is Margaret, nickname Daisy in good old fashioned style. If I'd had another girl she would have been Miriam. Edith is lovely, i know an Edythea which is a beautiful variation.

Do you like a "th" sound?

If so, how about:
Meredith
Catherine/Katherine
Thelma Grin

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 07/09/2015 15:56

I have an Arthur...if he had been a girl or dc2 was a girl she would be Kate or Beth

SueDunome · 07/09/2015 16:15

Olive

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 07/09/2015 19:05

As far as I know the nn Eve Evie Eva do not come from Edith. Edith is an entirely different name to Eva ect. She could use Edie if she wanted
