Opinions on girls name.......

I was just wondering if you all would kindly give me your opinions on the girls name........ ARABELLA.
Its a name I have recently rediscovered having read it in a book many years ago. It strikes me as a good standing, well balanced name with nickname options of Ella or Bella. Although I do prefer the full name. It comes across that it would suit all ages but could also be professional and stands out from the names now a days.
The other names I have on my list are Summer and Harper. I did have Darcey but feel maybe that is a little unisex sounding. Having grown up with a jnisex name myself I would like my girl to have a strong girly name.
Thanks in advance all!!!!

I think it is less likely to date than the other three to be honest as it's an older name and the two short forms you've thought of give you and her flexibility.

Love Arabella or Darcey. Not Summer or Harper.

CelestiaLuna · 25/08/2015 22:10

Arabella is ok but the nn you mentioned are everywhere so on that basis alone I'd avoid.

Year on year the name Arabella has been rising and looks set to be the alternative to Isabella.

I like Darcey best

Ladypug · 25/08/2015 22:26

I like Arabella and think it's really different

manicinsomniac · 25/08/2015 23:19

I love it.

Also really like Darcey and quite like Harper. Not so keen on Summer but it's fine.

RachelZoe · 25/08/2015 23:19

Harper as first choice, Arabella as second for me.

Sophronia · 26/08/2015 16:56

I'm not keen, but it's better than Summer, Harper and Darcey. I think Arabella is going to get quite popular though.

SmugairleRoin · 26/08/2015 17:03

No. I think that with the wave of Ellies/Ellas people will be looking to different names containing a similar sound, and this will be one. So I imagine it'll rise.

Wishful80smontage · 26/08/2015 17:05

I really like Arabella was on my list oh vetoed it due to the attic monkeys(?) song called that so he thought it would be mega popular (turns out we're having about anyway).
Much prefer it to your other choices harper is ok but really don't like Darcey or Summer.

Arabella? No. Depends where you fit in society. At the top, fine. Below the bottom, fine. Anywhere else, no.
Darcey, Harper and Summer? Absolutely not.
