HELP! Totally stuck on girls name.

Only 25 weeks so still have a bit of time Wink, but we just cannot come up with a girls name that we both agree on. DD's name was so easy, the second one of us suggested it, we both loved it, and still do. This time round, it's sooo hard.

My favourites are Genevieve or Isla (popularity of Isla does bother me though). DH has suggested Samantha or Gwendoline. Both have been vetoed by the other.

Not keen on granny-chic names and would like to avoid anything too popular or wacky. If DC is a boy, he will be probably be Samuel, nn Sam. Help us MN!

Jennifer
Rachel
Rebecca
Sarah
Gwinevere (which seems a nice mix of Genevieve or Gwendoline)

WankerDeAsalWipe · 19/08/2015 20:01

Ailsa instead of isla
Jennifer instead of Genevieve or Gwendoline
Suzannah instead of Stephanie

or:

Gabrielle
Laurel
Hannah
Louisa
Kezia
Amarys
Carys

Cassandra
Arabella
Becca

WishIWasWonderwoman · 19/08/2015 20:03

How about Catherine or Josephine? Madeline/Madeleine? Elizabeth? Jacqueline? Alice? Eleanor? Hannah? Celine?

I really like Genevieve and Gwendoline! Do you like Gabrielle/Gabriella, Giselle, Gillian, Georgina or Georgiana?

Congratulations on your baby! Smile

WishIWasWonderwoman · 19/08/2015 20:04

I'm not sure if those names are too "granny-chic?"

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 19/08/2015 20:11

Oriane, Orianna, is what came to mind

Ailsa

Gooseberrycrumble2 · 19/08/2015 23:32

Gwendoline = Windowlene

Josephine is my bet

marshmallowpies · 20/08/2015 00:23

Helen or Helena
Selina
Rachel
Harriet
Victoria
Marianne or Marina
Lucy

Gwendolen instead of Gwendoline gets away from the Windowlene sound.
Or maybe Gwyneth? Only 3 Gwyneths born in 2014 according to the data just released (I know people will think it's to do with Gwynnie Paltrow though...)

GirlOverboard · 20/08/2015 01:01

I think Genevieve is lovely. Or:

Geneva
Serena
Meredith
Marina
Evangeline
Ophelia
Paloma
Madeleine
Margherita
Eleanor
Clementine
Selena
Emmeline

Georgia
Laura
Emma
Caroline
Camilla
Sylvie
Natalie
Elsa
Nicola

Phew. Finally managed to log back in! Thank you for all the suggestions so far. Catherine, Elizabeth, Selena, Georgia, Rebecca are all lovely but can't be used as already names of close relatives/friends/their children. Josephine is my DM's name! Smile

I like Helena, Juliet, Natalie and Hannah. Cara has also been discussed previously with DH and though we like it, I can't imagine using it a hundred times a day! Talia was another option, but worried it's a bit too unusual?

bodenbiscuit · 20/08/2015 07:56

Talia is a great name. My dd's best friend is Talia and she's a lovely girl.

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 20/08/2015 09:23

I agree Talia is a lovely name. It is quite unusual but not so much so that people will think you've made it up IYSWIM?

WishIWasWonderwoman · 20/08/2015 09:51

Talia is nice. Can also be spelled Thalia.

Juliet and Helena are really great names. And Hannah. Smile

mathanxiety · 20/08/2015 20:03

Talia is lovely. It could be used on its own or as a NN for Natalia.

Would you consider a name like Savannah or Sierra or Sienna?

Orangeisthenewbanana · 21/08/2015 09:38

Hooray! We have made some progress Grin It's probably now down to Talia and Anya which we had for some reason forgotten about. Middle name will be Faith, which I think goes ok with each of them.

Of course, after all this, DC2 will probably be a boy!

WishIWasWonderwoman · 21/08/2015 11:42

What great choices! I think Talia Faith sounds marvellous and it's definitely my favourite although they're both nice.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 21/08/2015 13:01

Thanks Wish Grin

I agree, lovely choices Smile. Funnily enough, Anya was on our shortlist for DD1 and Talia for DD2. Both sound lovely with Faith. I really can't decide between them, will leave that to you!
