Please could you help us choose from these two - Arusha or Rhea for a girl?

Asha?

If you want Anglo Indian then go with Ria - it comes from the word for singer.

My mm is Ria and I have Indian.heritage, that's why I have that nn rather than the more 'obvious' options for my name.

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 17/08/2015 05:41

mm = nn!

BeautifulBatman · 17/08/2015 05:50

I think they're both terrible. Arusha sounds made up. Or like urethra. And Rhea is the name of one of my mum's dogs. With the same spelling. Sorry.....

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 17/08/2015 05:59

I like your suggested different spelling of Rhea

TidyDancer · 17/08/2015 10:04

I like Mila. Arusha not at all keen on. Rhea but only spelt Reah.

Cherryblossomsinspring · 18/08/2015 12:22

Arusha (besides being a town in Tanzania I've visited) does slightly make me think of arse and flush.

Rhea seems like a real name and sounds pretty in itself other than the urea potential for sagging. But the name is strong enough to hold its own against that I think.

frangipani13 · 18/08/2015 12:27

They're both beautiful names OP. I'm thinking along similar lines for my baby girl. I love Rani but doesn't work well with our surname (too many R's and we are both RR too!)

TheCowThatLaughs · 18/08/2015 12:33

Rhea makes me think of rear, ie arse
Arusha is better

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 22/08/2015 10:03

Rhea is a lovely name but she is SO going to have 8 year olds chanting "diah-Rhea!" at her...

InQuiteAPickle · 22/08/2015 10:07

What Lucas said. I had a friend at school who hated her brother's girlfriend Rhea so she called her Gonor-Rhea.

BitandBot · 22/08/2015 10:10

Rhea/ Ria is popular here. There are 3 in ds class. Big , little and naughty they are known as !

JudgeJudySheindlin · 22/08/2015 10:54

Rhea would be my choice. I also know a girl with this name who is absolutely delightful. It's a soft, gentle sounding name whereas Arusha sounds harsher & not as beautiful.

reuset · 22/08/2015 11:10

I like Arusha. Rhea, not so keen.

GoldPlatedShitGibbon · 23/08/2015 12:16

Not keen on Arusha, not really sure why, it's a bit Scheherazade-y for my taste.

I love Mila.

I also love the magnificent Rhea Perlman. Grin

GoldPlatedShitGibbon · 23/08/2015 12:16

Anousha?

DriverSurpriseMe · 23/08/2015 12:23

Rhea makes me think of diahorrea, sorry! Spelling it Ria would help a little (but not with the sound, obviously!).

Arusha is better.

scatterthenuns · 23/08/2015 20:44

I had a cat called Rhea once. I like it.

dotdotdotmustdash · 23/08/2015 21:12

My SIL is anglo/indian mixed race and is called Sansha, which was made up by my PILs because my PIL liked an Indian Actress called Shahensha Begum.
