can't agree on a name!

DP and I cannot seem to agree on names for DC2. DS is called Alexander (known as Alex). This took us ages to agree on and he wasn't named until a few days after he was born.

I'm in the early 2nd trimester for this one so we have a while until crunch time. We will be finding out the sex of the baby which will narrow things down however I want to be prepared!

For a boy I absolutely love Harris, it ticks all the boxes for me and I was so happy to have found it a while ago but we can't use it as DP has difficulty pronouncing the letter R especially in the middle like that, hard R's aren't so bad. So that's completely out as we can't have a name for our child that Dad can't pronounce!

Other boys names we are drawn to (but don't love):
Blair
Innes

Love the following (but too "out there" for us to use):
Cassius
Atticus

Girl's names (I like) :
Madeleine (hate Maddie)
Ottilie
Vivienne

I love longer names for either sex that can be shortened.

DP likes (plainer names):
Zoe
Emily

We both like Olivia and Amelia however to much of a mouthful with our surname.

Any other suggestions??

I'm not a fan of any of your of DH names, but, I know a Madeleine in her 40s who is know known as Madeleine, never Maddie.

Hellionandfriends · 16/08/2015 11:08

I think you could insist on Madeline and find a nicer nickname

Hellionandfriends · 16/08/2015 11:11

Viola

Olivia is a lovely name

BertrandRussell · 16/08/2015 11:23

I really, really wouldn't use Blair. It's going to be a name increasingly in the news over the next few years, and probably not in a positive way.

SmugairleRoin · 16/08/2015 16:19

No, you can't insist on her always being Madeline. She'll grow up, may love it and decide to use it herself - seeing as she'll be a person independent of you.

If you really, really hate Maddy, then no.

Estelle, Serena, Vivienne?

blazingarrows · 16/08/2015 16:20

Thank you everyone. Lots of choices to mull over.

Going out for dinner soon so will corner him then Wink

Ugh meant to say Verity, not Vivienne!

Vivienne is nice too though.
