Order them from favorite to least if you please, I've gone through the top 200 for every decade since 1800 and these names consistently appear but (to me) never get super popular.

Arthur
Otto- we have a German connection.
Jobe
Mack

All very different to each other!

I think Arthur has been getting a lot more popular recently though? You might want to check that if you're concerned about a name being too popular.

Jobe and Mack, top 200, really? I've never heard of either. I've known a few people nicknamed Mac, but that's all.

Arthur is probably on the rise, but I like it.
Otto is OK, I do know someone with a little Otto.

Jobe might be a phonetic version of Job (from the Bible) perhaps?

The only one I like is Otto. I know two teenage Ottos funnily enough, it's a nice name.

Otto - like this a lot. Suspect it may rise in popularity soon though (has a similar feel other trendy choices like Arlo, Felix and Rufus)
Arthur - also like, but it's currently quite trendy - I know of three baby Arthurs here in N. London
Mack - OK as a shortening, not convinced by it as a full name
Jobe - not keen. Is it meant to be pronounced the same as Job, or Jo-bee?

Thanks again for your replies. I'm definitely more on the Otto/Arthur bandwagon. My brother has a friend called Jobe, I'm pretty sure it's biblical.

Arthur - good name. Popular at the moment

Otto- von Bismarck. Reminds me of bewhiskered German men. But nice nod to your German heritage.

Jobe - In the bible it's Job (pronounce Jobe). I'm not an expert on biblical matters but I think Job had a shitstorm of bad luck rain down upon him.

Mack - American private detective nickname.

Not sure what you mean by consistent, most names are consistent in that they've been used for decades/centuries with various peaks and troughs of popularity.

Fish- Thanks for clearing up the biblical part, regardless the name Jobe still stands as shortlisted- it wasn't chosen for its potential godliness!

Thanks Crystal- consistent as in always there and roughly in the same area of the list. For example 'Lorraine' may have been massively popular in the 60's and never made a comeback whereas 'Jane' although never too 10 has always been around.

Okay I see what you mean. But I'm surprised Mack qualifies as a consistent name. The only Macks I've ever met have been men with a McSomething surname.

Don't ever move to Scotland if you have a Jobe. It could easily be mispronounced jobby and here that means poo.

I love Otto. It was on our list for DS who ended up as Max.

I like Arthur and Otto a lot, would probably use Otto as less popular than Arthur which is on the rise.

I don't like Mack or Jobe at all, and Mack sounds like a nn for a fifty year old with MacTavish as his surname.
