This is our current short list for names if we have a boy. Some are ones my husband likes, some are ones that I really like and a few are ones that we both like. Would appreciate honest opinions - thank you.

Xander / Alexander (would probably put Alexander on birth certificate but introduce him to everyone as Xander)
Zachary
Sebastian
Arthur
Felix
Stanley
Albert
Digby
Rex
Max

I love Zachary, Sebastian and Stanley.

Digby sounds like a dog.

Biscuitsneeded · 02/08/2015 09:49

Lots of good names. I love Arthur and Albert. Like Stanley too.

Personally I think Xander, Sebastian and Felix are a bit too posh for me but it depends on the circles you mix in!

Not so keen on Zachary and Max, don't know why. I do like Digby and Rex but not sure they'd be to everyone's taste.

swimmerforlife · 02/08/2015 10:23

Really like Felix, lovely name.

Zachary and Max are nice too. Not so keen on the rest.

hawkmcqueen · 02/08/2015 11:03

I like:
Xander
Zachary
Felix
Albie/Albert
Max

I find Sebastian and Digby a bit try hard.

Sophronia · 02/08/2015 11:07

I like Alexander, Zachary, Sebastian, Arthur, Albert and Max.

milkmilklemonade12 · 02/08/2015 11:07

Xander and Stanley are nice, Felix and Digby remind me of pet names though!

Sebastian you could shorten to Seb which I quite like. Perhaps for a middle name; Xander Sebastian sounds nice.

ProfessorPickles · 02/08/2015 11:08

I like Stanley best, not a fan of any of the others for various reasons!

I like Alexander but not Xander

CakeRattleandRoll · 02/08/2015 17:24

My favourites are Felix and Rex.

MamaLazarou · 02/08/2015 18:16

I would feel a proper fanny addressing someone as 'Xander' and would probably ask if it was OK to call them Alexander.

I like Albert and Arthur from your list.

barbecue · 02/08/2015 20:14

Xander / Alexander - like Alexander with Alex as nn, not Xander
Zachary - like
Sebastian - OK, but a bit wet
Arthur - not keen
Felix - like
Stanley - knife or old man
Albert - OK
Digby - too posh
Rex - dog
Max - like

cece · 02/08/2015 20:51

I only like Max or Rex from your list.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 02/08/2015 21:16

My favourite is Zachary.

Least favourite is Digby.

Newlywed56 · 02/08/2015 21:17

Think max is the best one Smile

NadiaWadia · 03/08/2015 16:52

Alexander, Zachary and Sebastian are all great names. Max is quite nice.

Arthur, Stanley and Albert are OAPs.
Digby and Rex are dogs.
Felix is a cat.

goodnessgraciousgouda · 03/08/2015 21:42

I think they are all fine except the last three. Digby just sounds like the name of a particularly unintelligent dog for some reason! Rex is fine for a pet, but sounds pretty try hard for a person.

All the other names are lovely though. I know quite a few Sebastians' my age (thirties) so not sure why it seems so reviled here! Felix really is Felix the cat, but it's a pretty popular name these days, so I think the association with the cat food will wane soon.

diddl · 04/08/2015 08:40

I love Felix & Digby.

Oddpet · 04/08/2015 15:51

Love Max, Zachary nn Zach and Alexander (don't like Xander though). Sebastian nn Seb is quite nice. Don't like any of the others.

woody17 · 05/08/2015 07:52

Thank you for all the feedback and the honest opinions. I think whatever name we go for, it's not going to be liked by everyone! Smile

Love Rex and Digby. Really don't get Alexander... Know so many and I don't see the appeal at all...

morepleasegromit · 05/08/2015 22:07

Love Alexander/Xander. All the others are VERY popular already

morepleasegromit · 05/08/2015 22:08

Meaning they are also very 'now' therefore likely to date. Alexander is a solid classic
