Family tree girl names

My DH has had someone research his family tree back to 1629.
I decided to look through and have made a list of the names, some have mn included, as they are on the family tree.
I have not been able to include them all - but here are my favourites

I would like your opinions on the nicest name and then what goes with siblings Charlie and Tilly (not worried if they don't have 'ee' ending)

There are more but these stood out the most.

I am not keen on Edith, Mable, Aidi, Dorothy or Sislie but like all the others.

I like Beatrice and Aida best

What a lovely set of names your ancestors had! My Mum did ours and nearly every female was called Hannah or Mary. Loads of them!!

It is Cecily. Lack of standardised spellings in that period meant variation, even in the most commonplace names, was great.

Dreamiesrcatopium - There are more names, but these were the ones we likes the best. Clara Jane is adorable, but it is so similar to my own name Tara Jane - but it's still on the list as we love it.

I think Clara is a bit too similar in sound to Charlie.

With Charlie and Tilly I like Rose, Eliza, Alice, Grace, Annie or Dorothy.

Olive Rose is lovely. Aida is nice.

My question is how would you pronounce it?
And then which do you prefer?

I thought it was Ada with an added i. But after researching it, it can be pr Ida (eye - dah) or eye - ee- da. I think maybe if I was to go with Aida I would choose to spell it Ada, to save having to correct the mispronunciation.

I wanted to use my mums name Amanda as a mn, but if we use Ada could I say that it is a variation of her name. take away the 'man' and your left with Ada?? AmanDA

Ada means Noble, nobility (on nameberry) but on 'behind the name' name web Ada also means: adorned, beautiful. (a
Aida means happy (on NB) and on BTN it means returning visitor.

I want a special meaning for 3rd baby, as I have miscarried twice since TTC in the last 7 months.

Yup Aida is Eye - EE - dah. It's an opera by Verdi. I like Ada too tho, but definitely spell without the i if that's the pronunciation you want!

I like Sislie, it's cool - a 16th century forgotten ancestor with a name everyone has forgotten.

I can't decide if it's a good name for a real person.

Brilliant second name if you decide it's too weird.

I like Sislie but DH doesn't or any Ceclia, Cecelie related names as it reminds him of someone he knew when he lived in France.

I do think people would think it's a made up name though.

Stupid husbands and the annoying people they used to know.

So many nice names ruled out for this reason!

One of my favourite boy's names ruled out because it reminded DH of his old boss.

BathtimeDunkster - Oh I know, so many of many names have been vetoed for this reason. At least he liked a few from the list though. It's a start

I have an Eliza and a Josephine. One of them also has Dorothy as a middle name. I've had nothing but compliments for them. They are also easy to pronounce and hard to confuse - you say what you see. So they'd be my picks
