What do you think of Herb for a boy? Obviously would be a Herbert on birth certificate. Don't know if I like the inevitable shortening of Herbie though.

It's a no from me, sorry. Around my ends a naughty child is referred to as being a little Herbert, it is also too close to sherbert.
