I've heard this name before, pronounced 'Tay-ah' but I could swear it was spelt 'Thea'...? Any suggestions? I like the sound of it.

Téa, Teya, Taya?

VixxFace · 21/07/2015 15:36

Taya

Sophieelmer · 21/07/2015 15:36

I know 2, both spell it Tayah

CoteDAzur · 21/07/2015 15:39

Surely Taia would be pronounced like Maia/Maya and not like Thea?

MamaLazarou · 21/07/2015 17:18

Thea is pronounced Taya in some countries.

WhispersOfWickedness · 21/07/2015 17:34

Thea is pronounced Taya in some Scandinavian countries (Theo is pronounced Tayo in those same countries).

I know a Tea with the accent over the e (but can't do it on my phone)

Pretty name.

Sophronia · 21/07/2015 21:07

I'd pronounce Taia like tye-ah, but Taya like tay-uh

I know a Teodora, nn Teo (prn Tay-o). It's the European version. You could spell it with the H but I think that would cause pronunciation issues in the UK.

This name can be a Russian name, Taia/Taya short from Taissia. Also can be shortened to Tasya or Tasia.

This will totally out me if there are any relatives on MN, but DD3 named herself Taya (tie - ah) when she started to speak. Her full name is the same one as David Beckham's wife.
I must admit I cringe a little when I shout "Taya!" at the park - I am afraid people will think it is her real name.
