Olivia or Sophia?

Hello everyone!

I'm new here and thought I would ask for some advice Smile

I'm expecting another little girl and can't decide on her name.

I have my son, Elliot James and my daughter, Emilia Grace. I have many rules for deciding on a name; as you can see, their first names are 6 letters and their middle names are 5 letters, so I'd want the same for my 3rd child. Also, I wouldn't want it to begin with the same letter, as I have now used the same letter for both genders - if that makes any kind of sense! It's stupid, I know Blush

We are fixed on the middle name Paige and are not sure if it should be:

Olivia Paige

Sophia Paige

Our family name is Crowden Star

Any advice/other names that follow my rule, would be much appreciated! x

Those are both VERY popular names right now. I've lost count of the numbers of Sophies, Sophias and Olivias that I know.

Personally, I'd go with something a bit less popular.

DramaAlpaca · 04/07/2015 17:17

Olivia, then all your first names start with a vowel Smile Smile

DurhamDurham · 04/07/2015 17:19

I think Olivia Paige is easier to say and sounds better than Sophia Paige Smile

Stoneysilence · 04/07/2015 17:21

Much prefer Sophia Paige...

barbecue · 04/07/2015 17:36

Both nice but I prefer Sophia Page.

Sophronia · 04/07/2015 17:49

Olivia Paige

shitebag · 04/07/2015 18:00

Both sound good to me :)

If you're looking for suggestions how about Alanna Paige
Alyssa Paige
Helena Paige
Hannah Paige
Laurie Paige
Tamsin Paige

ashesandfire · 04/07/2015 19:03

I prefer Olivia to Sophia (I actually know an Olivia and Emilia sibset) but prefer Sophie to both!
Or how about Isobel, Imogen, Juliet, Bryony, Saskia, Helena?
I don't really like Paige as a mn. It seems too modern and your other names are quite classic. How about Clara, Fleur, Faith, Eliza, Marie?
Olivia Faith or Olivia Clara sound good to me

swancourt · 06/07/2015 11:02

Sophia Olive :D

Zakken · 06/07/2015 11:08

Olivia is super-popular and I don't much like it.

I like Sophia pronounced in the old-fashioned way, So-FYE-ah. (This sets it apart from Sophie and modern Sophia which have been very popular in recent years.) Sounds well with your middle name and surname.

TheCraicDealer · 06/07/2015 12:12

They're both so popular, I wouldn't pick either unless you're absolutely in love with one or other. Otherwise you're condemning your DD to thirteen years of "Sophia C" or "Olivia C".

Belazu84 · 06/07/2015 12:43

Agree with the popularity thing. How about:

Serena Paige
Jemima Paige
Cassia Paige

iamnotaponceyloudperson · 06/07/2015 14:08

Out of Sophia and Olivia I would go with Sophia as we know so many Olivia's and only 2 Sophias.

Love the suggestion of Serena, gorgeous name. Almost worth having baby no 4 (not happening!!)

wigglesrock · 06/07/2015 15:52

I have both Smile , although I spell mine Sofia. Both of mine are the only ones in their school year, although dd3 is starting school this September and there are 3 Sofias and no Olivias in an intake of just under 60 kids.

reuset · 06/07/2015 17:10

Sophia, though I prefer Sophie

sweetpeame · 06/07/2015 17:16

As you'll have already gathered from previous posters, both names are currently very popular. But that shouldn't put you off unless it bothers you. I have a DD with a top 10 name and a DS with a pretty uncommon (although not necessarily unusual name) and love both. I prefer Olivia. Not keen on your middle name choice though, I don't think it goes with either name.

reuset · 06/07/2015 17:21

I'm not liking Paige either

Zakken · 06/07/2015 18:02

The middle name is not up for discussion.

SkodaLabia · 06/07/2015 18:38

I much prefer Sophia to Olivia.

Iliveinalighthousewith2friendl · 06/07/2015 21:03

Olivia Paige Crowden Flows beautifully. Plus Sophia is getting tedious, now. Olivia not as heard of now a days
Your dcs have gorgeous names btw.

reuset · 06/07/2015 22:27

The middle name is not up for discussion.

'Fixed' is not, not up for discussion. I'll comment on Paige as a potential middle, for the choices above, if I wish to, Zakkered

Zakken · 07/07/2015 00:02

I think we'll let the OP be the judge of that. The already-chosen middle name has got fuck all to do with you.

GlitterTwinkleToes · 07/07/2015 00:15

I love Sophia Paige, but am very biased as it's Dd name Grin

BikeRunSki · 07/07/2015 00:26

Olivia, because Sophia will sometimes be misheard as Sophie.

Louisa Alice ?

NanaNina · 07/07/2015 00:57

Agree that they're both lovely names but OH SO popular.....especially Olivia. Lydia is less popular and sounds a bit the same. My DIL is a primary school teacher and there are 4 Olivia's in Year 1 (though it's a 2 form entry) and I have 2 friends with grandchildren Olivia's!
