One of these is my favourite girl's name. Is it my imagination or is every baby girl born recently called one of these names? How many Evas, Avas and Eves have you heard of recently? Are these names going to be really common and does it matter? I would prefer a more unusual name generally but until recently I hadn't heard of too many Evas and Avas!

Wow Rigglin how have you not met another one? Every other girl under 10 here I kid you not is called Eve/Evelyn/Evie/Ava. Most families with 1 plus girl have an Eve. Perfectly nice name but the popularity is out of all proportion!

RigglinJigglin · 01/07/2015 19:02

Nope - lots of Ava's though!

ashesandfire · 01/07/2015 22:22

I actually only know one Evelyn nn Evie - no Eves/Avas/Evas - variants of Isabelle, Sophie and Isla seem to be more popular where I am in the SE.
I love Evangeline.

TheNewStatesman · 02/07/2015 00:16

OP, if you want a "more unusual name," call your daughter Laura, Katherine or Julia. Oreven more unusualJane or Anne. Eve and its variant names are very, very popular right now!

SycamoreMum · 02/07/2015 00:39

Evangeline is beautiful. The first time I heard it was Nanny McPhee and then I heard a french woman say it and that was it! It was mines lol people are always positive when they hear it and by what I look like they're shocked I chose such a name so its a double positive. Smile

KERALA1 · 03/07/2015 09:00

It is nice but surely just gets shortened to eve by the world in general? (speak as someone with a dd with different long beautiful name ending in "ine")

Swishyswashy · 03/07/2015 14:16

I know Florence is popular, but haven't met any. Where are the Florence-knowers based please? Do you think it's quite a posh name? Prefer Eve out of the 3 OP likes, but all v v popular.

RigglinJigglin · 03/07/2015 14:45

I know of 3 since DD was born, I'm NW.

Pagalee · 03/07/2015 14:47

Very popular names, but popular for a reason - they're nice Grin.

I know 2 x baby Eva.

There are three girls called Ava, an Eve and an Evie in my DD (aged 7's) year group.

Am in London.

Pagalee · 03/07/2015 14:48

Florence was popular about 10 years ago in north London Grin.

There were two in my 11 yr old DS's primary class, another in his toddler group and another 10 yr old Florence who lives on our road.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 03/07/2015 22:24

I have an Ava. She is at secondary school, where it is still unusual. I have warned her that by the time she's in Year 11, all the girls in Year 7 will be called Ava!

ConcreteElephant · 03/07/2015 23:16

I have a 5yr old and a 3yr old and I don't know a single Eve/Ava/Eva.

I live north of London and I can't quite believe my own first sentence there.

KERALA1 · 03/07/2015 23:24

Wow concrete! Girls in dds (age 8) class - eve, eve, eve, eve, Eva, Evie

This name is officially full!

fassbender · 03/07/2015 23:44

I have an Ava (5) and love it! It is a really pretty name and I don't know any others (live in Midlands). I know 2 Florences and loads and loads of Isabelle/Isabellas.

ConcreteElephant · 04/07/2015 11:04

Crikey KERALA, their poor teacher, how on earth do they differentiate?

DD has one duplicate name in her class - there's a good variety otherwise.

I was one of three with my name in my class and it's a name which screams 'born in the mid 70s', not so popular now. DD is also named with a perennial favourite, but is the only one I know (of her age - I know more Mums with her name!) - it does surprise me as it's not like I don't know dozens of children!

Baguettes · 04/07/2015 21:34

So popular, dull and uninspiring. They are however, all pretty names. But I would really be put off by the popularity.

wetsnow · 04/07/2015 21:45

Must be areas... my dd is Evelyn (ev-e-lyn) she's the only one at her nursery. I've met no others. I'm pleased with my choice. Chose what ever name you love.
