Our first DD is due in a couple of weeks and we are currently pondering between three names: Eva, Lara and Sophie. Any thoughts or opinions appreciated.

Thank you

Depends if popularity bothers you at all. There has been an explosion of Eve/Evie/Eva names recently.

I like Sophie best. It's quite common, but then, so are names like Eva.

Not very keen on Lara.

TheFillyjonk · 28/06/2015 10:18

I like Lara and Eva, Sophie is a bit dull.

Sophronia · 28/06/2015 10:43

Lara is my favourite.

I did see mentioned previously about the popularity of Eva, Evie etc but I only know of one who is four years old and that's it so not too worried about the popularity, I know of more Sophie's than anything else. We are slightly limited on choices because of our long surname and we are not opting for a middle name either.

I have an Eva, she's 7 and the name suits her beautifully. Soft but strong at the same time. There's a few Evie's around where I live but it's not hugely popular and I've never met another Eva.

I EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy Lara.

I may have one

Choose the name you love the most.

Lara is the least popular imo if that is a consideration

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/06/2015 13:35

Lara, beautiful name.

Lunastarfish · 28/06/2015 13:36

All three are beautiful. Depends if popularity bothers you as Sophie and Eva are very popular, Lara isn't.

Lara is gorgeous

CakeRattleandRoll · 29/06/2015 00:22

My favourite is probably Eva, but I would actually choose Lara, because there are so many Eva-type names around.

manicinsomniac · 29/06/2015 07:52

All really lovely.

Lara is my favourite, then Eva then Sophie

Eastpoint · 29/06/2015 08:04

Even though names like Eva, Lara & Sophie are popular in a year of 150 girls at senior school there are only likely to be 2 or 3, there is such a wide range of girls' names. Choose the name you like for the whole of your daughter's life, not just the 3-18 months when you'll be doing baby groups etc.

afink · 29/06/2015 08:28

The UK is awash with Evas. Even if you don't know many now, you will find that there are loads once the baby starts going to baby groups and nursery and school.

Don't like Sophie.

Love Lara.

BadHenry · 29/06/2015 08:37

They are all great choices.

I think maybe Eva is the "strongest" of them.. I can envisage an Eva being pretty tough (in a good way!).

Other than that its hard to choose because they are all lovely.. Not much help - sorry!

Skittles88 · 29/06/2015 10:04

Such an excellent point made Eastpoint.

My favourite would be Sophie, sweet, strong and sophisticated.

MrsPeeee · 29/06/2015 18:38

I like Lara the best.

My name is Laura and I remember at primary school I noticed another little girl had her name (Lara) on her lunchbox. I called the dinner lady over and told her she had spelt her name wrong!
