I am 33 weeks pregnant expecting a boy....me and my husband love the name Rudy....just wanted feedback on what people think as we haven't told friends and family and its not the sort of name you hear often....although that's what I love about it! ???? xxx

I don't think it's as 'different' as you think, I know a few under 10.

I'd go with Rudolph or Rudolf, fabulous name redolent of European dukes and counts. And Rudolph Valentino!

Yeah, there's the reindeer thing, but he could have some fun with that.

Reminds me too much of Rudy Guiliani I'm afraid!

Don't know who he is.

I like it :)

I used to look after a little boy called Rudy, never thought anything of it tbh. He's 9 now and like all children his name suits him fine and he's never been teased about it.

On a similar vein Ruairi was on our short list for #2 and I'm gutted I never got to use it, although she suits her name better really :o

I know a little Rudy, never even thought of 'rude' and he doesn't get teased at all. Lovely name.

I think it's fine, but as short for Rudolph, or Rudyard, or something. Actually not sure those are personal favourites Grin Rupert is another nice similar name

Sounding similar to the popular Ruby would be another possible consideration

I really like it. I have a Jude though, who gets called Judy as a nickname or indeed, Rudy (if he's being rude).

I love it, it was on our short list, not quite brave enough to go with it but still think it's a great name and it's becoming more popular now.

Same as boardblond but my grandfather used a different spelling. So I like the name, as I have good memories of him. :)

We had a boy in school called Rudy. Can't recall anyone making any comments about his name. I like it!
