(Updated) Girls Shortlist: Pick Two

Shortlist
Nella (nn Nell)
Clementine
Diana
Lucie

And then there are some names that we are a bit iffy on: Celestine, Noemi, Zara

Feel free to comment suggestions and opinions on the names. DH suddenly loves Diana, but I'm not too sure about it. We already have two sons, Ezra and Sasha, and our last name starts with an F and is one syllable (which is why I would like her name to have at least 2 syllables).

You are thinking about Babar and Celeste mathanxiety

babar.wikia.com/wiki/Celeste

MadAngryGnome · 22/06/2015 03:18

Clementine and Zara are gorgeous strong names, though Zara is a bit similar to Ezra. Lucie is pretty too.

patienceisvirtuous · 22/06/2015 04:31

I like Nella. And Della. How about Zoe?

mathanxiety · 22/06/2015 15:06

Thank you Nooka! That's what it was. It's been a while since I read Babar stories. I know I have never encountered a Celeste anywhere else besides books of some kind.

Peacheykeen · 22/06/2015 15:10

Honestly I think Zara sounds the best with your other dc's (Ezra is gorgeous btw) I like Lucie too

Zakken · 22/06/2015 17:24

Diana is very glamorous and does not date. It's never been in or out of fashion, a classic name.

I don't like Nell and its variations.

Clementine is too fussy for me and seems to be having a "moment", so will date.

I like the timeless Lucy, but not with the -ie ending please, it looks twee unless you're in a francophone country.

Isn't Celestine a man's name?
Noemi will be mistaken for Naomi, again unless you're in a francophone country.

Zara is quite cool.

goodnessgraciousgouda · 23/06/2015 17:55

I don't understand this trend for "Clementine" at the moment. Why would you name your child after a fruit??

I think Lucie as in french spelling is sufficiently common in the UK not to seem weird. However, Noemi not so much.

Enkopkaffetak · 23/06/2015 23:54

Diana by far from the ones you have listed. Classic not over used name Everyone will know it but few will know one. Perfect name type imo

toobreathless · 24/06/2015 00:21

I have a Celeste so biased there!

Penelope nickname Nell? Or Helena nm Nell?

Nella makes me think of salmonella (sorry!)

Clementine & lucie are good strong names but just not to my personal taste, Diana I think is too strongly associated with princess Di.

Allalonenow · 24/06/2015 00:41

I think Noemi would face a lifetime of spelling mistakes.
I'm not too keen on Nella, what about Nesta instead?
Lucie is pretty, though I prefer Lucy, have you thought of Dulcie? Similar in style but a bit more unusual.
Zara is too close to Ezra.
Like others I prefer Celeste to Celestine.
Diana is fine, but she will be called Di.
I like Clementine best!

Quasilulu · 24/06/2015 01:56

How about Fenella?

Zakken · 24/06/2015 11:14

"Diana I think is too strongly associated with princess Di"

Nobody under 20 remembers her, and most of them won't even know who she was. People didn't name their daughters after her either, there was no spike in the popularity of the name. There are other notable Dianas out there, Diana Ross for instance, and Diana Rigg who is still being marvellous.
