It's nice - different without being unheard of or made up. Maurice reminds me of the E M Forster book and Morris of a character in a strange book called A Five Year Sentence that came free with a magazine years and years ago.

I don't like it at all and can't picture it on anyone younger than 80

Jacksonyellow · 14/06/2015 17:00

I wonder if this name is going to become popular, I have heard of one baby being given that name and I know two others given it as a middle name. All born since January.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 14/06/2015 17:02

No

I thought Morris was a surname, Maurice for a first name?
At least he won't be one of seven Maurices in his class...
It's cute, and a real name.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 14/06/2015 22:12

I had a rabbit called Morris. I like it but not spelled Maurice.

fruitscone · 15/06/2015 09:07

Prefer Morris to Maurice as the latter seems a bit 'wet'. What about Moritz (pronounced Mow-ritz) - it's the German version and I think has a bit more va va voom.

Only1scoop · 15/06/2015 09:09

Don't like it.

Morris as in Morris Minor?

Spelling is Maurice

CakeRattleandRoll · 15/06/2015 09:24

eatyourveg · 15/06/2015 09:36

I have 2 relatives who have been called Morris. Both have gone by the nn Moy

squoosh · 15/06/2015 10:46

I dislike Maurice/Morris but quite like Moss which is the nickname most of the Maurices I know go by.

sebsmummy1 · 15/06/2015 11:36

I used to look after twins called Moss and Louie. They were gorgeous and I loved the name Moss too.

Although my sister used to call them Moss and Toss and think she was hilarious Hmm

MrsBennetsEldest · 15/06/2015 11:42

Don't like it at all sorry. It's so beige or at a push, taupe.

girlandboy · 15/06/2015 11:53

Not keen I'm afraid.
Morris is the spelling for a surname not a first name, which is Maurice.

I have an Uncle Maurice, who his friends call Mo ! And he gets most offended if anyone dare to spell it as Morris!!

Cliffdiver · 15/06/2015 14:14

I like it. I think I prefer it spelled Maurice though.

thatduck · 15/06/2015 14:18

Oo I like it!

eatyourveg · 15/06/2015 15:28
