Hi everyone,

My partner & I are expecting a little boy and both love the name Arthur (Artie for short) but friends reactions to this have been..... lukewarm.
We've already decided his middle name will be William and I think Arthur William is lovely and strong.
What is everyone's opinion on this? We were considering Henry as we like classic names but I think Henry is far to popular now.

Be gentle and thanks in advance! :-)

Arthur was no 43 in the last list produced by the Office For National Statistics (2013). It's climbed in popularity by 8 since 2012 and there were 1,559 born in England and Wales in 2013.

If DD had been a boy she would have been called Arthur and it remains top of the list if we do get a DS in the future.

The increasing popularity does worry me a bit though, I had two other girls in my junior school class with the same name as me and I would hope to avoid that situation for my child/children.

Arthur William was my boy name choice. We got a dd though and as she was dd2 there won't be anymore babies here...

I like Arthur it was on our shortlist - but I think we share our taste in names - DS is actually William!
