Which would you prefer as a sister to Eli and Aphra?

Not pregnant yet but not doing anything to stop it happening (bar still breastfeeding) so thought it would be fun to start letting myself dream about a third! Smile

Fleur's I hate but purely because I was at school with one who was horrible. Great is a harsh sound. Juno lovely but quite popular with the indie/emo teen mums as they love the film.

getbusyliving · 08/06/2015 00:04

Greta

Marisola · 08/06/2015 00:08

"Fleur is ok but sounds a bit weird for a baby or child. It's more an 'adult' name in my mind"

That's good, then, surely. The person who is being named is going to be an adult for far longer than she will be a child.

TheBobbinIsWound · 08/06/2015 00:28

I have not heard the name Aphera before. How do you pronounce it?

And I luff Juno. And Fleur. There are too many Juno dogs around here unfortunately so I would opt for Fleur?

Alice1983 · 08/06/2015 00:34

Greta is lovely . I don't like Juno and Fleur would be my second choice, it reminds me of France in the Summer

TheNewStatesman · 08/06/2015 02:40

Greta is nice. Fleur is OK but a bit... bleughhhh-sounding. Juno is just awful and sounds like a name for a pet.

CakeRattleandRoll · 08/06/2015 02:56

Greta then Juno.

FatSwan · 08/06/2015 03:33

Greta or Juno. Esp Juno with Eli and Aphra.

bluewisteria · 08/06/2015 04:32

What about Juniper as per your screen name? nn could be Juno I suppose, although they have very different meanings.

I love Juniper.

fleurdelacourt · 08/06/2015 10:38

Fleur for me! honestly regret not using it on dd now. Love the monosyllable and love that it's unusual and grown up.

SunnyBaudelaire · 08/06/2015 10:45

yes Aphra Behn - wasnt she a famous playwright or novelist or some such?

Juno sounds like a dog's name or possibly a really BIG girl.

Fleur sounds like Cilla Black on acid.

Sorry but 'Greta' just sounds really ugly - think about all the words that begin with 'GR' - grotty, gruesome, gross, granny, etc the list goes on. There is a good reason why Gr- names are not popular for girls.

charlyn · 08/06/2015 11:23

Love Greta, it would have been dds name if I'd had my way. Also have Fleur on our list for a second dd so love that as well. Not keen on Juno though

getbusyliving · 08/06/2015 11:29

Sunny, Great begins with Gr Grin

getbusyliving · 08/06/2015 11:33

Also Grace is pretty popular

SunnyBaudelaire · 08/06/2015 11:46

damn so much for that theory then.....

JanuaryJuniper · 08/06/2015 12:08

Wow lots of comments and lots to mull over. It took over three years to conceive Aphra so it's possible that I will have plenty of time to consider names for another dc.....however it took all that time to come up with the name Aphra.

For the poster who was asking Aphra is pronounced Af rah, it is a place name in the bible in the book of Micah and means either dust or young deer, was brought into use as a name by the Puritans and as another poster mentioned Aphra Behn is a famous wearer of the name and a great feminist role model being the first professional female writer!

I'm open to suggestions on other names, if any if you have ideas Grin

I do like the previous suggestion of Juniper but would prefer two or one syllable names!

Prefer Fleur but I think Juno goes best with your other names and it's a gorgeous name too.

Smugnogplease · 08/06/2015 12:39

Love great, not keen on others

CruCru · 08/06/2015 13:56

Greta.

Chchchchanging · 08/06/2015 13:56

Greta

squoosh · 08/06/2015 14:35

Greta is great. Grown up, 1940's glam. Possibly a spy.

JanuaryJuniper · 08/06/2015 14:38

Possibly a spy love this Grin

I also love the name Rumer but I think it may be a bit difficult to live with!

Oly4 · 08/06/2015 20:16

Rumer is hands down the best name from this bunch, love it

JanuaryJuniper · 08/06/2015 20:42

Yay a vote for Rumer....I'm afraid of doing a thread on Rumer as it will probably get slated. It's actually my favourite!
