Baby girl short list

Sparkie7 · 07/06/2015 21:55

Baby girl due shortly and we're struggling to find a name we love. We have a short list but not sure any of them feel like 'the one'. Would be really grateful for views on the following - you may have a perspective that hasn't occurred to us!

Agatha
Astrid
Cecily
Erin
Iris
Constance
Carys (we have no Welsh link)

Thanks

I like Erin and Iris. I think Irina would fit on your list as well.

PookBob · 07/06/2015 21:59

I love Astrid and Cecily. Erin is very nice too.

BertrandRussell · 07/06/2015 22:01

Constance. Wanted it for dd but sounds ridiculous with her last name.

BellMcEnd · 07/06/2015 22:02

My favourites are Astrid (LOVE it) and Iris.

Would also suggest Ingrid, Ivy, Amber and Rowan.

Congratulations! Flowers

Sophronia · 07/06/2015 23:11

I like Astrid, Cecily, Iris and Constance. I think Constance is my favourite of the list.

SylvaniansAtEase · 07/06/2015 23:12

Agatha or Cecily.

Cec isn't a great nn though.

I'd go for Agatha.

Eversobusyeveryday · 07/06/2015 23:31

Just not Agatha, please don't do it to a poor child

Quasilulu · 07/06/2015 23:39

Carys and Iris gmv.

CakeRattleandRoll · 08/06/2015 00:26

I like Astrid, Cecily and Iris.
Also really like Carys and don't think it matters if you have no Welsh link, although you/she would probably be asked that a lot.

Allalonenow · 08/06/2015 01:42

My favourites are Astrid and Cecily (nn Cece).

Carys Erin and Iris are my least favourite.

QuinoaLenghi · 08/06/2015 06:54

I had Constanceon my list. My eldest is no weight and cannot believe I even considered it. Her and her friends roar with laughter about her nearly being called Constipated.

I like Cecily

Agatha: Agatha Trunchbull! Really though, I like this name, though many might see it as unflattering. It would be a nice name for a quirky girl.

Astrid: Unless you're absolutely certain your baby is going to be born with biceps the size of bulldozers I would avoid this aggressively "viking" name

Cecily: I think this name is a little too much, but that's just me. Im sure other people would love it. I prefer Celia as a similar-sounding, less frilly alternative

Erin: mousy, meek name

Iris: I used to hate this name but it's growing on me. Could be the name of a beautiful girl.

Constance: I think this is a strong and pretty name, love the nickname Connie too

Carys: There are nicer-sounding names on your list, and with no Welsh link i see no reason for you to pick this one over one of the others

I think Cecily is lovely

BitOutOfPractice · 08/06/2015 20:12

Erin is mousy wesH? I think it's the exact opposite!

I really like all your names OP - Cecily and Agatha would be my least favourite but they are all lovely

How about waiting till you see your DD - you may well think "Ah! She's obviously a xxx!" That's what happened with my DC1

Sansfards · 08/06/2015 20:24

I like Erin best too. Sounds strong but gentle.

Sparkie7 · 08/06/2015 22:23

Thanks Bit, think that's what we'll do. Overthinking it just at the moment!

Constance is my fav from your list

cosmicglittergirl · 08/06/2015 22:36

I have an Iris Constance. Sometimes I wish I'd kept Constance back for another DD! I also love Cecily and Agatha, but Iris or Constance I'll have to say.

Lilydreams · 08/06/2015 22:55

Erin, Iris and Carys are all beautiful imo

DampAndRotten · 08/06/2015 22:59

Agatha is lovely.

I also like Agnes.

manicinsomniac · 08/06/2015 23:14

Agatha - sorry, this is one of only a couple of names I really can't stand
Astrid - love it. Often wish Id used it
Cecily - like it
Erin - really like it
Iris - really like it
Constance - it's ok. Connie is quite a cute nn
Carys - love it. And I know a non Welsh baby Carys

I would choose Astrid from your list. But, other than Agatha, think they're all lovely.

ashesandfire · 09/06/2015 19:28

I really like Astrid, Cecily, Erin and Iris. Think Iris is my fave

Rhubarbgarden · 09/06/2015 19:56

Nice names. My vote would go with Constance, Iris or Astrid. Carys is the only one I'm not keen on.
