Which do you prefer? My dh isn't sure about Madeleine, and I know posters before have referenced the link to the very sad story of Madeleine McCann, but I just think it's such a beautiful name. I'd really welcome feedback xx

I think Daisy is lovely!

mayaknew · 02/06/2015 19:42

Daisy

Queazy · 02/06/2015 20:03

Oh thanks all Smile Madeleine is really growing on me and I do like the nickname Maddy. I completely agree that Daisy is more girly, but do love it. Mmm not as sold on Isobel and some of the comments have confirmed my suspicion that in some areas its v common.

LOVE THEM ALL.

I have an Isobel. Considered Daisy for DD2 but went for Alice. Would totally call any DD3 I might have Madeleine if I was able (I'm not, for a reason that would out me ....)

Love them all :)

Absolutely love Madeleine and agree with previous poster who said it's perfect for any age and tres chic!

We opted for Marianne instead which I think is quite similar in feel.

Mustard969 · 07/06/2015 09:31

Madeleine

What about Delphine

fiveacres · 07/06/2015 10:40

I like Madeleine but I think I prefer the Madeline spelling.

PuppyMonkey · 07/06/2015 10:46

I have an 18 yo Madeleine - she is known as Maddie, we also love that as a NN. But it does get on my nerves that where I live, people sometimes say: "oh, is that short for Madison?" Confused er, no.

She is named in honour of the TV programme Moonlighting btw.Grin

owlborn · 07/06/2015 11:00

I love Daisy. It's really fresh and pretty and also won't be abbreviated. All the Madeleines I know are Maddy and Isabelle tends to become Izzy. But Daisy stays the same.

WITCHYARD · 20/05/2016 16:13

Madeleine McCann was abducted by a stranger. A woman who was not a member of the family or a friend of the family. I would give her one name, Madeleine.

purplefizz26 · 20/05/2016 16:20

I have a Madeleine.
I know no other Madeleine's.
Nobody points out Madeleine McCann.
Lots of people remark on how beautiful her name is, nice, traditional but not too common either!

Madeleine Smile

ABitAsleep · 20/05/2016 16:42

Daisy is my favourite :)

Madeleine is okay, Maddie okay too, but prefer Matilda and Mattie.

Isabelle (and all it's variations) are too popular right now for my liking

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/05/2016 16:44

Id go for Madeleine, definately. Its strong, classy, elegant and very pretty.
Daisy is too twee.
And Isabelles are everywhere

Violethenry · 20/05/2016 17:40

Daisy is so pretty

Not another Isabelle, Isobel, Isabel
IZzzzzzzY 😴

Neither here or there with Madeleine

Violethenry · 20/05/2016 17:41

But if you was to go Isabelle I think Isobel is the prettiest spelling!

TeradelFuego · 20/05/2016 18:03

Isabelle is gorgeous (although I prefer the spelling Isabel). Isabel/Isabelle/Isobel or Isabella is one of the most popular names, though, and you might consider that a negative, or you might not be bothered.

Madeleine is also absolutely lovely, and slightly more unusual I think.

Daisy is cute and pretty, and I do like it, but it's not in the same league as the other two, which are also a bit more grown-up,

TeradelFuego · 20/05/2016 18:09

Oops, just seen it's a zombie thread from a year ago.

Why do people revive them? It's particularly pointless in Baby Names, as the children were named long ago! It would be better to start your own thread if you want to discuss a name.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/05/2016 18:10

Oh FFS.,

Ramanj0t · 20/05/2016 18:15

Isabelle is cute :)

frobskottle · 21/05/2016 13:19

If you want a longer name Marguerite was the original long version of the nn Daisy
