I love this name but get some Hmm looks when I mention it.

Would appreciate some opinions.

Gorgeous name with such a lovely meaning- that beautiful flowering shrub that smells so nice in Winter.

Why are there not more? It's wonderful. Never really considered it before though!

Orange6358 · 02/06/2015 20:13

Love it. Also Delphine

Lambbone · 02/06/2015 20:19

It's a lovely name.

As long as you don't call her sister Velma.

Benchmark · 02/06/2015 22:19

Love this name! I think it might even be my favourite at the moment!

Mintyy · 02/06/2015 22:20

LOVE!

But be warned, it will be the Ruby and Oliver of its day.

LancashireTea · 02/06/2015 22:22

Love it. It will might be an option if we have another dd.

pilates · 02/06/2015 22:32

No strongly dislike.

reuset · 02/06/2015 22:46

It's not too bad a name at all.

reuset · 02/06/2015 22:47

Puzzled that you've had Hmm looks about it. Seems to be the reaction with some when a name is not mass mainstream popular yet

EvilSidekick · 02/06/2015 22:49

Immediately think of Daphne Moon from Frasier. Unhelpful I know, but that was my first thought.

Yika · 02/06/2015 23:17

Beautiful. Love it.

Quasilulu · 03/06/2015 01:01

I know I'm odd but it always makes me think of daphnia. Sorry.

VainVulva · 03/06/2015 10:14

Adore it! Reminds me of Daphne Du Maurier my favourite author!

WaferInMyCoffee · 03/06/2015 10:26

Daphne is a gorgeous name

heylilbunny · 03/06/2015 19:47

Daphne is like Penelope in style and sound and they are both hitting the big time - I prefer Daphne as I don't like the nickname Penny.

heylilbunny · 03/06/2015 19:54

It reminds me of the sitcom "To the Manor Born" and the names of the characters and actresses of that era (late 70s early 80s).
Daphne
Penelope
Angela
Margo
Felicity
Barbara

makemineapinot · 03/06/2015 19:59

Sorry just makes me think of Daphne Broon too!

Ludways · 03/06/2015 21:24

I love it.

I have a Dutch friend called Daphne and she's very like the Timotei lady (showing my age), and gorgeous.

haleandhearty · 17/06/2015 11:29

Gorgeous name. Daphne du Maurier a wonderful role model.

Love all the "To the Manor Born" names mentioned above! Apart from Barbara.

VT82 · 17/06/2015 14:49

I love it. It's my fab grandma's name.

If we were having a girl, and we were doing middle names, it would have to be on there.

cheymommyaz · 25/06/2015 19:47

lovely name i sugested it to the mr didnt like it

Fetacheeny · 26/06/2015 19:45

Such a lovey name. Would love to have the guts to use it but I would be concerned about bullying - Daffy duck etc.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 27/06/2015 00:01

Absolutely love it - both really feminine and strong. I think a lot of the name associations mentioned here are really dated - I'm 30 and have never heard of Daphne Broon, had no idea that there was ever anyone in Neighbours called Daphne and have about zero familiarity with Daffy Duck (a Disney thing maybe? Like 100 years ago? Definitely not in Frozen!) I would go for it!!
