Esther or Maisie?

Less than 4 weeks to due date and we aren't sure if we're having a boy or girl. Boys' name all picked and we're both happy with it, for a girl we were always going to go with Esther, although I had a slight wobble and wanted to rethink - then hubby threw Maisie into the mix. I quite like Maisie, but am torn... what do you prefer? (ps, Esther would get shortened to Essie or Ettie). Please help!

Esther, I love it.

griselda101 · 23/04/2015 23:06

Esther! Maisie sounds a bit too soft.

steppemum · 23/04/2015 23:07

I love Esther.
To me maisie is a cartoon mouse.

ashtrayheart · 23/04/2015 23:07

I like Esther

IvoryMadonna · 23/04/2015 23:09

Esther.

DramaAlpaca · 23/04/2015 23:09

Esther.

SweetAndFullOfGrace · 23/04/2015 23:10

Esther. Maisie is too sweet and a bit blah.

PookBob · 23/04/2015 23:13

Definitely Esther, beautiful name.

squoosh · 23/04/2015 23:41

Esther. By several country miles. And then a a few more.

Variousrandomthings · 23/04/2015 23:42

Tess for a nick name

FoamyOne · 23/04/2015 23:43

What they all said ^^. Esther is lovely. Maisie is a bit fluffy and lightweight.

FATEdestiny · 23/04/2015 23:50

Esther is a much stronger name than Maisie, IMO.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/04/2015 23:52

Esther. And I like cutesy names!

villainousbroodmare · 23/04/2015 23:54

Esther.

Guin1 · 24/04/2015 01:14

Esther

Eigg · 24/04/2015 01:17

Esther. Much stronger and more grown up.

If you do decide to go with Maisie perhaps name her 'May' and use Maisie as a nick name.

mammmamia · 24/04/2015 01:18

Esther is beautiful. I love that name. Maisie is not in the same league!

Amy106 · 24/04/2015 01:18

Esther is a lovely name.

Annabannbobanna · 24/04/2015 01:18

Esther is fab. Maisie is boring and very overused.
As a PP said Tess as a nickname, or Essie

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/04/2015 02:16

I think Maisie has had it's day.

undermythumb · 24/04/2015 02:36

Both are lovely.

TheNewStatesman · 24/04/2015 03:21

Esther is a beautiful (and not too common) name which has never been out of date. I know Esthers in every age range.

Maisie is a bit faddy.... and it makes me think of "maize-y."

bakingtins · 24/04/2015 04:35

Esther. Maisie is a mouse, not a name for a grown up. It's very unusual to have a pretty unanimous verdict on a baby names thread!

lolalotta · 24/04/2015 05:25

Maisie is twee! Esther!

sparklesandfizz · 24/04/2015 07:12

Esther for me x
