Arabella v Georgia

Not saying yet who loves which name, but there's a deadly battle between DP and I regarding these names. We have two 'safety names' which we're both a bit 'meh' about, as we both have real love for one of the above. Which do you prefer? I may drip feed something in later...

I like Arabella most

Wotsitsareafterme · 12/04/2015 21:31

Neither. I know a million Georgia's they all get called George. What about Georgina?

ArabellaStrange · 12/04/2015 21:33

Georgia by far, despite my user name!

TheNewStatesman · 13/04/2015 03:12

Georgia! Nice strong happy name. Arabella sounds a bit precious to me.

Namechanged101 · 13/04/2015 04:12

Georgia! Gorgeous, strong name suits a baby and a grown up

I like Arabella considered it as middle name for my dd Georgia and have been half considering it for dc2 but really dislike Bella as nn so maybe it can go on the middle name list again as I do like it in full.

But Georgia overall lovely name. We have only met one other Georgia at all the baby and toddler groups we've been to- I was expecting a few as its top 60 but not popular where I am at all.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 13/04/2015 05:37

Georgia. Arabella is horrid.

RL20 · 13/04/2015 06:04

I love the name Arabella. Not a big fan of Georgia.

Good luck

insancerre · 13/04/2015 06:28

Where I live there are a few Arabellas but I only know one Georgia
I do prefer Georgia

charlyn · 13/04/2015 09:45

Prefer Arabella or even better Arabelle.

squoosh · 13/04/2015 11:14

Georgia.

Arabella is far too frilly, and agricultural. Odd mix.

SunnyBaudelaire · 13/04/2015 11:19

Georgia - v cool name.
Arabella - meh, sounds a bit 80s Sloane tbh

IsadoraQuagmire · 13/04/2015 12:03

Arabella.

Belazu84 · 13/04/2015 12:39

I'm afraid I don't like Arabella. It sounds posh, but not in a pretty way. Georgia is great.

aFirmGrip · 13/04/2015 18:43

I know sisters called Arabella and Georgia...

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 13/04/2015 18:46

Georgia

CrispyFern · 13/04/2015 20:52

Arabella I do not like.
Georgia, I do like.

cherrypez · 13/04/2015 21:45

Ok, drip feed alert...Georgia would be named after DP's dad. I feel bad as he would have really liked a boy (named George obv) but this is DD3 for him. I just love Arabella, it is very Enid Blyton which I like!
Sigh I think we will have to use Felicity off the safe list. What makes it harder is that we are both teachers, and know various girls of most names. The Georgia I'm thinking of is not a good association...

The Georgia I know is really nice. You can call her George too

yumyumpoppycat · 13/04/2015 22:56

Georgie is cute too... you will forget the horrid girl...have to admit that Dp and I ruled out a few names for the same sort of association reasons, but none that we loved, it would be sweet to name her after dgf

Felicity is my my dd's middle name - people I know are really are not keen on it but I think it is pretty.

LeoandBoosmum · 14/04/2015 00:44

When I hear the name Arabella I think of a snotty girl looking down her nose at others. Georgia is better.

I loathe Georgia, it's one of the names I, probably irrationally, cannot stand. It seems so dated to the 1990's and when it's said quickly or in a harsh tone 'gor-ja' it sounds so heavy, clunky and ugly.

Apologies to anyone whose name it is. [blush

LeonoraFlorence · 14/04/2015 10:54

I prefer Arabella, though the Georgia I know is lovely so that name has really positive connotations for me :)

brightnearly · 14/04/2015 20:20

Georgia.

Arabella is too self-important.

Totality22 · 14/04/2015 20:28

Arabella (to me) is a very, very posh name!

Georgia is much more my cup of tea but I am common as muck
