Do you like Ottilie?

For DD due in the summer?

I'm really struggling with names and just can't decide - go from one to the other. I don't know any other Ottilie's but at the same time it isn't vastly unusual, I don't think.

If you don't like it, feel free to make other suggestions!

DP is Ottilie. She spends a lifetime correcting people's pronunciation and spelling it, repeatedly (and mostly people still get it wrong!).

But, it's a beautiful name and increasing in popularity.

Ottilie makes me think of otters so I'm not very keen. No offence to otters

I love Marianna

What about Aurelie or Celia or Lucia or Susannah?

Marmaladedandelions · 09/04/2015 18:17

Aw, I LOVE otters :)

I really think there's something wrong with me as I don't like them either.

I'm bored just now so made a list:

Imogen
Summer
Ottilie
Skye
Seren/Serena

Middle name is anita.

Imogen
Summer
Ottilie
Skye
Seren/Serena

Marmaladedandelions · 09/04/2015 18:44

Lol - so it's serena or Imogen! Grin loads of Serens round here though I do love it!

I like Mabel. And I like Anita!

CrispyFern · 09/04/2015 18:55

Oh and I like Rosamund too. You could have Rose or Rosie or Rosa as a nickname rather than Roz.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 09/04/2015 18:55

Seren looks like the registrar forgot the "a" off the birth certificate sorry Welsh people

Marmaladedandelions · 09/04/2015 18:56

Anita was my mums name :)

Mabel and flora do go nicely don't they ..?

I love it! My DH vetoed it Sad.

Notso · 14/04/2015 11:20

I'm not keen it just makes me think butterly
I love your other DC names and I love Hugo though.

Seren is lovely but very popular and I've heard English people pronounce it strangely.
Imogen is lovely.
Mabel is lovely.

My friend's dd2 is called Ottilie. Hated it at first and told her so. But now, what with her dd2 being such an adorable bundle of joy that I love very much, I love the name - I guess liking a name has a lot to do with association. It's shortened to Ottie which is great.

ChocolatePecanPie · 15/04/2015 23:01

We have one and we love it.

Never had a buttery joke. I like otters.

It does irritate when some miss their t's but not that much.

Go with up if gut. I knew I'd regret it if we didn't go with it because of what others might thing.

KERALA1 · 15/04/2015 23:06

Men hate this name! I really wanted it dh vetoed on grounds I had "made it up". Went for clementine instead but really like ottilie. I also like Augusta so accept I may have a dodgy taste in names.

AgentCooper · 15/04/2015 23:11

I'm not keen, sorry. To me, it just says Boden/Mint Velvet/Mumsnet ,which is grand if that's your thing but to me it's a bit prissy.

bluebelle2662 · 16/04/2015 10:40

I think Ottilie is a lovely name.
