I love Penelope.

Edith's ok.

Zorion · 31/03/2015 10:21

Ah they were the two names on our list! We had a boy in the end but I couldn't decide either! Would have been one as a first name and one as a middle! How lovely x

Sophronia · 31/03/2015 10:34

Edith.

PeterParkerSays · 31/03/2015 10:53

Edith - I prefer it to Penelope and a little girl would find it easier to spell.

I love Edie as a nickname.

stormyboots · 31/03/2015 11:45

Prefer Penelope but it does seem to be rising pretty rapidly in popularity, not sure how much of a consideration that is for you.

Guin1 · 31/03/2015 15:48

Penelope

yomellamoHelly · 31/03/2015 15:52

Penelope. Nearly called dd this name and kinda regret it a bit that we didn't. (Just don't tell dh!)

myredcardigan · 31/03/2015 15:53

I love Edith/Edie but DH just kept doing his Allo Allo impression so used Josephine!

AndWhenYouGetThere · 31/03/2015 16:19

Penny is lovely. My favourite of the two, because I know lots of Edie's (and they blend in with all the Evie's too)

wafflingworrier · 31/03/2015 19:34

my daughter is edith and is the only Edith we've ever met in her 4 years of existence, we've moved twice.
everyone always says "oh how lovely, my grandmother/great aunt was called edith" when they hear it, which i love.

in terms of name meanings, edith means "warrior maiden", penelope means...the thread on a bobbin. enough said ,really.

it is classless-pretty much whatever accent a person has, they say it in the same way (unlike penelope)
...unless the person is french or german, in which case they just don't get it.
it is easier to shout across a room full of people, if i shouted penelope I'd feel very...um...posh. and penny, well that's a penny isn't it? not a person.
just my thoughts

ThroughThickandThin · 31/03/2015 19:40

I don't like Penelope/Penny at all! It seems to be suggested really frequently on MN.

I really like Edie...but not Edith. Not sure I could use Edith. Although I'm a fan of longer names with nns.

Are there any other names you like OP?
