Help! Baby girl born on Wednesday and we just can't decide on a name. Our shortlist is:

Matilda
Delilah
Saskia
Eliza

My fave is probably Delilah but I worry slightly about negative connotations of the name... Am
I being daft? Also like but can't use: Alexa, Sophia, Isla, jemima.

Saskia.
I came close to picking that name myself.
Ob. Sassy as nn.

Allalonenow · 27/03/2015 17:36

Saskia by a very long way.

I think you are right to have doubts about Delilah.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 27/03/2015 17:37

Matilda

DailyFailSideBarOfShame · 27/03/2015 17:37

They are all lovely but Saskia is the best. I love Matilda but I think it's become very popular.

Allalonenow · 27/03/2015 17:38

Oh! and many congratulations!! Wine Wine Thanks

Kraggle · 27/03/2015 17:39

Eliza I think it's a lovely name.

Zahrah5 · 27/03/2015 17:40

Delilah definitelly.

Im considering Dahlia myself and that is quite similar.
Not sure what negative connotations Delilah would have?

Saskia comes as second.

theendoftheendoftheend · 27/03/2015 17:42

Eliza is lovely

seaoflove · 27/03/2015 17:42

I love Eliza.

Ludways · 27/03/2015 17:42

I love Eliza.

I know a 6 yo Delilah, I was a bit unsure at first but I've grown to love it, go for it.

NadiaWadia · 27/03/2015 17:42

I like Delilah, it has a beautiful sound. I wouldn't worry about the Tom Jones song, really, there has been a more recent song which is more positive (Plain White Ts or something?) Saskia is also nice. And Matilda and Eliza are fine, although I would maybe choose Elizabeth, and have Eliza for a nickname.

ThroughThickandThin · 27/03/2015 17:47

Saskia

Congratulations Smile

Allthatnonsense · 27/03/2015 18:10

Eliza is lovely

stillsingingintherain · 27/03/2015 18:15

Delilah is my fave, then Eliza. Not keen on the other two though.

I like Matilda best. Then Eliza. Not keen on the others.

(The Plain White T's Delilah, was a bit of a 'stalker' song, written about a real woman who wasn't interested in the lead singer. She said of the song "When I'm at the gym, it's playing; when I'm at the pool, it's playing. Part of me wants to scream at the top of my lungs that it's about me. Another part of me wants to cower and say it's not". So not entirely fantastic, although it's a lovely song).

skinnylegs33 · 27/03/2015 18:43

Saskia. Would not consider the rest, sorry

FunkyPeacock · 27/03/2015 18:46

I really like all of your names!

My order of preference would be:

  1. Eliza
  2. Matilda
  3. Saskia
  4. Delilah
MrsSchadenfreude · 27/03/2015 18:50

Saskia or Delilah. The other two are dull.

DramaAlpaca · 27/03/2015 21:37

Saskia is my favourite from your list.

johendy · 27/03/2015 22:00

Eliza is my favourite from type list. Then Marilyn. Not so keen on the other 2.

NadiaWadia · 27/03/2015 23:22

Marilyn?

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 28/03/2015 00:47

Congratulations mummy!!!
Eliza is the prettiest by far.

manicinsomniac · 28/03/2015 01:04

Love Matilda and Saskia.

Eliza and Delilah are ok.

Your can't use list are all really lovely - is there no way you can use any of them?

benchmark · 28/03/2015 02:11

I personally don't particularly like Delilah, but that's just personal taste. It's a perfectly good name and clearly your favourite, unusual names are never universally liked - I think you should use it!
My favourite is Matilda or Eliza, don't like Saskia.
