Initials N.A.G for a girl

After much debate and compromise, me and DP have finally decided on the name Niamh for our soon to be expected girl. We have narrowed down 3 potential middle names all beginning with 'A', all of which have a special meaning and family links.

The problem is that her surname will begin with 'G', giving her the initials NAG. Is this a massive issue? Would it put you off?

We could add a second middle name, but all of 'A' names are 3 or 4 syllables and the surname is also 3 syllables. I'd worry that adding another name into the mix might be a bit of a mouthful!

My friend had the initials FAG. She did laugh at it, but did say she was often quite upset in secret by ribbing at school, especially as all their pens and pencils/rulers etc had to have their initials on them.
Personally, I would pop another middle name in there alongside the 'A'.

I wouldn't

Niamh is a lovely name. Though NAG is liveable I would probably try to avoid the NAG if possible and add in another short middle name to break it up and avoid piss taking.

Even if it is really just a filler name it might be ok, e.g.

Niamh Alexandra May G...
Niamh Amelia Kate G...
Niamh Annabelle Zoe G...

For example these long A names sound good I think with an additional snappy middle name in there.

I agree with the suggestion of adding another middle name, then the potential issue is avoided.

I think you should quit horsing around and add another middle name. Having the initials NAG would be a 'mare!

Personally I wouldn't worry about it. How often will she ever use the initial of her middle name? I can honestly say I don't think I've ever used my initials like that - first and surname of course but middle name also? Unless you're required to register your child at school with their middle name and then have them use all 3 initials I can't see the problem. I don't think I've ever written my daughter's middle name anywhere other than her birth certificate and passport.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I think I'll sit down with DP as see if we can think of a short second middle name that will fit well, just to avoid any potential issue. If we can't think of one it's good to hear a few of you say you don't think it will be an issue

I'm a SAG. It has never ever caused me any problems. No one would know if I didn't bring it up. It is a total non issue. Go for it op.

You never know how the register works anyway.

At uni we had to sign into our system with part of our surname, part of our first name. Someone in my class was NeedAbig showing you can't predict anything.
