Currently 11 weeks with dc1 so not really an urgent thread but DH and I are considering Magnus for a boy. I like it, but am worried that its a bit too 'old man' ish. What do you think?
We also both like Ruairidh although I think that even in Scotland people will struggle to spell it. DH likes Charlie and I like Stanley but we've each vetoed the other's choice with those! If not Magnus, what else might we like?

My DS is called Magnus. It is the best name ever.

Yes @squoosh I wouldn't attempt the Borgen pronunciation. He is the perfect little blonde Magnus in my head though.

I used to really like it but also live in Scotland and it's becoming a little middle-class ubiquitous now. I know 6 magnuses in edinburgh alone.

Oh really Cedric? I live in Edinburgh as well and am a teacher, don't know a single one! I work in a very low income catchment though so see different naming trends. That does slightly put me off which is a shame because I really like it!

Oh sorry! Don't let it. You can have the really cool magnus - especially if you don't hang out too much in yummy mummy territory (Stockbridge playgroups I'm looking at you). Don't be put off if you love it.

Magnus is literally a great name! Grin

I like it with Max or Mags as a nickname.
