With 2 weeks til due date we're still bickering about girls names, not that we know what we're having & we already have an Alexander

We've now got the above short list, with the probable middle names Jessica Lyn

Which one is your favourite? Or can you come up with any others?

All nice but Suzannah is my favourite.

Suzannah is my favourite, though I prefer the spelling Susannah.

Clara and Claudia are very lovely names too, but both much more popular than Suzannah.

PunkAssMoFo · 18/03/2015 22:51

Excellent names. Susannah is my favourite. Clara is lovely, but not quite as much oomph. Claudia is fab, but means 'lame'.

FunMitFlags · 18/03/2015 22:54

Love Claudia

Clara is ok

Really don't like Suzannah.

MintChocAddict · 18/03/2015 22:59

Clara.

Sophronia · 18/03/2015 23:27

I love Susannah / Susanna, not keen on it with the Z though.

NormaSwilley · 18/03/2015 23:40

Susannah, by a long way. But not spelled with a z.

NadiaWadia · 19/03/2015 00:24

Agreed Susannah is lovely, but prefer it spelled like that, not with a 'z'.

The others are nice, although not quite as good as Susannah/Susanna.

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 19/03/2015 08:30

Susannah /Suzannah or Clara

areyoubeingserviced · 19/03/2015 08:31

Clara

Namechanged101 · 19/03/2015 08:33

Clara is lovely
Really love manic's suggestions of Camilla, Harriet, Georgia and Victoria all such beautiful classic names

Arendelle · 19/03/2015 08:40

Clara is lovely.

Georgina, Helena or Harriet maybe?

pyrowall · 19/03/2015 11:43

Thanks for the replies

I wonder what the aversion to the 'z' in Suzannah is? I don't mind either way TBH

I like most of the names that you're suggested manic the problem is the husband - who won't like any

Arendelle I know I didn't say but can't use Georgina or Helena

People always mention that Claudia means 'lame'. But this is the case with lots of popular names, Cecilia means 'blind', Amelia is a birth defect.

NadiaWadia · 19/03/2015 16:32

pyrowall re Susannah/Suzannah - I think it's just that the 'z' spelling, although probably used quite frequently, is not the traditional spelling. For example, my spellchecker just highlighted the 'z' version above as a misspelling, but not the 's' version. And somehow the 's' version just looks nicer written down, IMO. Obviously it's not a major difference though.

switchitoff · 19/03/2015 20:02

If you go for the "s" spelling of Susannah, the shortening is more likely to be Susie, rather than Suzy from Suzanna. To me, Susannah looks more elegant.

I also like Clara. Claudia is a bit harsh sounding to me.

Can I suggest Serena, Sabrina or Nina as alternatives?

hawkmcqueen · 19/03/2015 20:51

Susanna is my fave name at the minute. This is my preferred spelling. Susy is lovely as is Sanna. I just love it.

ch1134 · 19/03/2015 22:10

Susannah

Falconwolf101 · 20/03/2015 18:05

I love Claudia, but pronounced Clow-dia is my favourite XD

Susannah and Clara are both lovely. Not so keen on Claudia.

pyrowall · 21/03/2015 16:22

Since I posted this I've found out that we have Susannah's in the family - my mums 3 great grandmother was Susannah!
I already knew her grandmother was Clara.

OK - which middle name to go with either Susannah or Clara: Harriet or Jessica?
Lyn will be a second middle name and there's no negotiation on that.
I want Harriet, DH want Jessica!

Susannah Harriet gets my vote. Susannah Jessica is OK but rather a lot of S's
