For a girl. . .? My favourite girl's name is Sophia but I'm put off by how popular it has become.

Any suggestions on middle names for Vienna?

It makes me think of ice cream, sorry.

I do quite like Teddie, if it was a nn. There's lots of lovely girls' Ed- names to choose from.

JegErEnStorNerd · 05/03/2015 22:22

no, it's so silly.

I really like Vivien though

justjodie92 · 05/03/2015 22:23

Sienna?
A mix between Sophia and Vienna

matchingmoll · 06/03/2015 12:03

A Vienna is a kind of sausage. That would put me off.

momb · 06/03/2015 12:12

Sienna has a similar sound but is actually a name.

Middle names for Vienna if you won't be dissuaded:
Following the Austrian cities theme: Innsbruck, Saltzburg.
Following the European Capitals theme: Edinburgh, Berlin, Madrid
Following the hits of Ultravox theme: Lament, Hosanna, Astradyne

Vienna Astradyne StQueen.

There is a Vienna in my DD's class at school. My DH always sings Ultravox whenever her name is mentioned Hmm. I don't mind the name, it kind of grows on you. I did think that she was probably a one off but there is another one at my DS's nursery! What are the chance in a small market town of 2 girls being called Vienna. I know more Viennas than Chloes or Sophies.

LittleBairn · 06/03/2015 12:45

It is nice enough as long as you don't mind being (or worse your DD) being asked if that's where she was conceived.

BreeVDKamp · 06/03/2015 14:29

I like it! Much better than using a super popular name (i.e. Sophia, as you mention!)

SunnyBaudelaire · 06/03/2015 14:32

it is lovely but I much prefer Hamburg or Budapest

SirVixofVixHall · 06/03/2015 15:03

Or Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantisiliogogogoch...

MadeInChorley · 06/03/2015 15:08

Not keen on Vienna. It means nothing to me (done before)

If you are insistent on naming your DD after a European capital city, perhaps Athena, Sofia or Paris.

funnyossity · 06/03/2015 15:13

Buda is cute for a boy.

SunnyBaudelaire · 06/03/2015 15:14

but not Pest?

funnyossity · 06/03/2015 15:17

Yes to Pest; for those Jekyll and Hyde moments.

Wharm14 · 06/03/2015 15:19

As I read this thread they were literally just playing Vienna by Ultravox on Radio 2! Smile

SunnyBaudelaire · 06/03/2015 15:21

the feeling you give me means nothing to me, this means nothing to me
oooohhhhhhhhhh VIEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNA.

There's a damn good reason not to use it...

Wharm14 · 06/03/2015 15:24

I'd just have the song going round and round in my head all the time….
I had a tutor at Uni called Cecilia….for a whole year every time I saw her, all I could hear in my head was the Simon & Garfunkel song "Ceceeeeelia, you're breaking my heart…" etc!!
Maybe it's just me though…Confused

SirVixofVixHall · 06/03/2015 16:06

No it isn't just you. I love the name but I have to control myself from singing Ceceeeeeelia every time I meet one. DH has a middle name (quite unusual so can't post here as will out me) that is also the name of a song. His entire teen years were spent with anyone and everyone singing it at full volume when it came to light. At least it was character building!

cherrypez · 06/03/2015 20:28

I would really like it...certainly love the song...but I teach a Vienna. Noooooooooooo!!

LovelyMarchHare · 06/03/2015 20:33

Vienna Sienna?
And it's goodnight Vienna
