Best full version to get to the nn Georgie?

Working on a name for our third. They will have two older sisters, Vivienne and Philippa (Vivi and Pippa), and I'm thinking the nickname Georgie would go well with the other two, but wouldn't want to give it as a full name! Which version (Georgia, Georgina, etc) goes best, do you think?

Barring that, other options on the still-quite-flexible table (I'm only 8.5 weeks...) include:

Gwendolyn (a newcomer... still not entirely sure, but I rather like Gwen)
Felicity
Rosalind/Rosaline (nn Rosie)
Antonia (nn Annie)
Wilhelmina (nn Willa or Mina)... less sure of this one

Boy names are harder for me, but contenders are:

Timothy
Robert
Hugh/Hugo
Felix
Bastian
Ewan
Maxwell

What do you reckon?

Georgiana

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 23/02/2015 14:52

Georgia or Georgiana. Both were on my list for a girl (I now know I'm having a boy) but I was going for nn Gigi. I really like Felicity with nn Lissie. Also love Antonia (but would worry about Tony as a nn) and Rosalind.

We've decided (almost certainly) on Felix Hugh for a boy!

MuddyWellyNelly · 23/02/2015 14:55

I know a Georgina who has been Georgie all her life. But to be honest, if you want to call her Georgie, why not just make that her name? I know you've said you don't want to, but if it's the name you want to call her, well then isn't that the best name?!

And I speak as someone who has been known as the derivative of their longer name for as long as I can remember. It's frankly a pain - legal documents wants to use the long name but my bank accounts, for example, use the shorter one. ironically these days I wish we'd stuck to the longer one

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 23/02/2015 15:03

I think it depends what you want the nn for. If you and everyone else is genuinely going to call her Georgie all the time, then I think MuddyWellyNelly is right - call her Georgie. I was always called by my nn at home and by my friends, but I'm really glad that legally I have the long version of my name to use at work as my nn would feel too informal. My dh uses the long version of my name as well (as we met at work) which I really like!

manicinsomniac · 23/02/2015 15:17

I love Georgina and Georgie. Both much nicer than Georgia imo. And I'm not keen on Georgiana (too fussy) or Georgette.

And I agree. Pippa, Vivi and Georgie sound perfect together. As do Philippa, Vivienne and Georgina.

You could also use George to get Georgie if you have a boy.

Gwendolyn - don't like this or Gwen.
Felicity - love it. Less keen on Flick/Fliss. Fizzy is a cute nn for a little kid.
Rosalind/e - it's ok. I do really like Rosie though. Might got for Rosanna or Rosemary as the full version.
Antonia - quite like it. Not keen on Annie.
Wilhemina - really dislike this but I do like Mina and quite like Willa too.

Timothy - like it. Very underused now.
Robert - not keen. Quite like Bobby though.
Hugh/Hugo - not keen.
Felix - love it
Bastian - Is this a standalone name. Sounds like a nn for Sebastian which I like.
Ewan - quite like it
Maxwell - it's okay. Prefer Maximillian if you'd be going for Max anyway.

Castlelough · 23/02/2015 16:28

I too love Georgie for a girl so will watch with interest....

Castlelough · 23/02/2015 16:28

Mamie for a girl?

Castlelough · 23/02/2015 16:29

Apologies, meant to post a new thread!

neversleepagain · 23/02/2015 16:56

I have a Georgina Rose, nn Georgie, Gigi, Rosie.

Stardustnight · 23/02/2015 17:38

I like Georgia and Georgette; not so keen on Georgina for some reason.

I really don't like Gwendolyn or Wilhelmina - both make me think of Malory Towers, as does Felicity! I like Rosalind and Antonia.

I like Hugo and Timothy out of your boys names - might swipe Hugo myself :)

Takver · 23/02/2015 18:31

I love Gwen, but would choose Gwennan or Gwyneth as a full name, or indeed just Gwen. I agree with Stardust, Gwendolyn is just a bit too Enid Blyton.

Georgie is nice, I'd say any of Georgina, Georgette or Georgiana are pretty, though myself I'd be tempted by the latter for the Austen connection.

Leeds2 · 23/02/2015 18:45

Prefer Georgia. Then Antonia.

Not keen on your boys' names.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 23/02/2015 18:46

Your kids have gorgeous and very classy names.
The best girl names to match I would say would be Georgie or Gwen.
Whatever full name she has on her BC Georgina, Georgia, Georgette, Georgiana, Georganne, Georgiana.
The nn Georgie will make sense.
Or how about Gwendolyn but NN Dolly if you're not over Kean on Gwen.
Like all you boys names aside from Timothy, Ewan and Felix.
Love Bastian, is that short for Sebastian.

loislines · 23/02/2015 18:48

Rosalind would get my vote. Goes so well with the other two.

Vijac · 23/02/2015 18:58

I like Georgiana best.

Namechanged101 · 23/02/2015 19:01

Georgia is beautiful and nn Georgie fab, much nicer than Georgina I think.
I like all your other girl suggestions too and most of your boy options bar Timothy and Robert.
Not sure if I'm adding to the confusion but when I read your boy choices Rafe popped into my mind so I will add that as a suggestion!
But love love love Georgia classic and beautiful

Jackieharris · 23/02/2015 19:03

I like Georgiana. It reminds me of darcey's sister in pride & prejudice.

Biscuitsneeded · 23/02/2015 19:07

I think Georgia is a more modern take in Georgina and Georgiana. I love the latter - very Jane Austen.

Sophronia · 25/02/2015 10:42

I like Georgina to get Georgie.

I also like...

Gwendolyn -prefer Gwendolen or Gwendoline
Rosalind - I also really like Rosamund
Antonia (nn Annie)
Wilhelmina (nn Willa or Mina)

Timothy
Robert

squoosh · 25/02/2015 11:09

I don't like the name Georgina, this may be influenced by George from the Famous Five who despised it with a vengeance.

Georgiana is a bit Regency frilltastic.

Georgette reminds me of the fabric. So truly frilly! I do love Georgette Heyer though so that's a tick in its favour.

I like Georgia.

CrispyFern · 25/02/2015 11:45

From your other names I like Gwen, Antonia and Rosalind. For Georgie I only like Georgia and Georgina. Georgiana is just too, too vowelly.
The boy names, I like Hugo, and Robert.

rockinrobintweet · 25/02/2015 21:54

Gwen and Hugh are the favourites off your list so far.. congratulations on your pregnancy ?xx

DramaAlpaca · 25/02/2015 22:02

I love Georgina for Georgie (not too keen on Georgiana, Georgette or Georgia).

I really like Rosalind with your other names, and Felicity & Antonia go well too.

Of your boy names, I think Robert & Hugh go best.

Pandora37 · 26/02/2015 07:16

I think Georgina goes best with your daughters' names. I'm never sure how to pronounce Georgiana - is it georg-i-ana or geor-jane-ah?

As for the others I like Gwendolyn, Felicity, Rosalind, Ewan and Maxwell. Bastian sounds incomplete to me.

Arsenic · 26/02/2015 07:22

Georgette or Georgia are nicer than Georgina or Georgiana

Considering you have a Phillipa and a Vivienne, i'd go for Georgette, giving you three different endings; -a, -enne, -ette.
