Hi,
Expecting a baby in April, sorted for girls names but struggling to agree with hubs on boys names! We have a few we like but no front runner!

Current short list is
Angus (hubs thinks this is too Scottish for an English family? I disagree)
Alexander
Felix
William
Possibly Edward or Ivo and probably Thomas as a middle name.

I also love Barnaby / Barney, Gabriel, Leo but these have been vetoed.

We love James, Wilfred, Harry, Charles/Charlie but can't use these for various reasons.

I'd love some more suggestions of names please!

Hiya,

We're having a boy in August and all of your names were on our list! I really like Angus - I don't think it's too Scottish and I love Gus as nn! I really like Alexander especially nn. to Alec, but my dh's brother is Alex so we can't have it. I can't have William because our surname begins with a 'C' and I think the 'willy' nn potential combined with the initials W.C. is too much for any child to deal with! But I think it's a lovely name. I like Edward a lot - I would nn. to Teddy. I vetoed Edward in the end as I don't much like 'Ed' or 'Eddie' as nicknames. Ivo is really nice but wasn't on our list as dh and I used to work with an Ivo. We decided to go with Felix over the weekend. I love, love, love the name Felix. Always have.

The other names on our list (in case they fit in with your taste as well!)

Jasper
Alastair (as an alternative to Alexander)
Alfred (instead of Wilfred?)
Hugh/Hugo

Other than that, we also had James, Wilfred, Harry, Charlie, Leo . . . !

I do too StoneFoxMama, but worried people will pronounce it wrong.

I've always known it as Eye-vo but a few friends recently have thought it was Eee-vo.

Ah LorelaiVictoriaGilmore how funny!

Our surname also begins with a C and I hadn't even considered that. It actually starts Ch so cant go for Hugh (would sound like Huge with the CH!)

Thanks for the suggestions!

It's definitely eye-voh in this part of the world, in the ilk of Jago, Milo, Hugo and Arlo. Love O names.
What about Magnus? Nn Gus.

On my list were:
Hector
Arlo
Felix
Otto
Asa/Acer

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 23/02/2015 14:58

My dh spotted the 'WC' initial problem for William. He is almost too good at spotting teasing/bullying potential in children's names . . . mind of an 8 year old boy!

bienemaya · 23/02/2015 15:41

I really like Angus, Alexander and Ivo. How about Ivan or Quentin?

Alexander is a lovely name. Having a boy in May and we've chosen Edward, also really like the names Arthur, Benjamin and Angus.

Blondie87 · 25/02/2015 19:04

Myself and my OH are fans of:

Sebastian (nn Seb)

I find boys name a harder than girls, there seems less choice.

Lots of lovely names here. Our DS1 is due this week and the current frontrunners are Alexander and Edward - solid, elegant, classic names with lots of good nickname options. We also like William (though unlikely to choose it because our surname also begins with 'C'), Alistair, Henry, Charles (Charlie) and James. Felix and Arthur on our longlist but we thought that they might be a bit too fashionable (as opposed to popular classics that are never out of the top 50). Other names on the list have included Ben (Benedict/ Benjamin), Christopher (nn Kit though DH is taking a bit of convincing), Dominic, Elliot, Francis, Jonathan and Rufus - my DH vetoed all my more flowery and fanciful suggestions.
