I feel sorry for people like Bridget Jones who have a really ordinary name that suddenly becomes linked to one person or fictional character. There must be loads of Harry Potters and David Camerons.

squoosh · 24/02/2015 13:52

And Fred West. That would be particularly unfortunate.

Someone on my friends list on Facebook bakes cakes. She had one on recently that was for Isla-Skye. I'm not sure if the parents chose the name deliberately or not.

My friend used Faye Leah for her baby's first name and middle name. Not ideal!

shutupaboutstarwars · 24/02/2015 22:02

Used to be in the retired section of members of my profession. Everard Cock.

carbolicsoaprocked · 24/02/2015 22:19

maggiethemagpie · 24/02/2015 22:38

I knew a Mr. Shaw-Twillie at my brother's school. And never fail to mention him on these boards (not quite a mishap as in first name-surname but someone must have decided to double-barrel those names at some point!)

maggiethemagpie · 24/02/2015 22:39

I couldn't decide between Faye and Leah for my daughter and did think of calling her Faye Leah at one point with Leah as middle name, but luckily thought better of it!

maggiethemagpie · 24/02/2015 22:40

I like this thread! Can I add that I once knew a Donald McDonald?

DrElizabethPlimpton · 24/02/2015 22:46

There is a radio 4 producer call Jo King.

StaircaseAtTheUniversity · 24/02/2015 22:56

Know of these two via a friend of a colleague. The fiancée is now married and called Amber Glasscock. It kind of sounds like a high end dildo Grin

My mum had in one of her classes (now retired teacher) Roman King, Muhammad Ali and Harry Potter. Apparently the Potter family thought "this Harry Potter thing will never catch on"....

IWannaHoldYourHand · 26/02/2015 10:27

I went to school with twins called Connor and Rhea. Their mum calling them in was amazing.
