Sid is cool. Arlo sounds a bit posh and try-hard to my ears.

ScotsWhaHae · 13/02/2015 15:04

I like them both.

I can't believe someone made a SIDS link, that's horrific.

Fugghetaboutit · 13/02/2015 15:08

If I meet another Arlo this week I'll cry. Are there no other names?!

ClementineAndCordelia · 13/02/2015 21:22

Fuggetaboutit I think you may live near London ? There are no other Arlo's anywhere around us for miles ( possibly within the whole County even ) haven't heard it anywhere . It's not a ' popular ' name around here atall , just like there is only one other Milo for miles around and he's a teen now . We're very behind the times here !however , if it is getting popular then that's not so great as we don't like to follow the trend, just like that sort of name ( same with Sid - no other Sid's around here except teens ) truoble is we really don't like anything else Shock

round our way (London) if you call out 'Arlo' in a public place about 48 will come running

it's like Dr Seuss' Too May Daves

squoosh · 13/02/2015 21:27

names.darkgreener.com/#sid

names.darkgreener.com/#sidney

Good site to track spikes in popularity.

littlesupersparks · 14/02/2015 07:31

I'm nowhere near London and it seems pretty popular here (not as popular as Dexter though!)

D0nnaO · 14/02/2015 08:30

Arlo is lovely

Fugghetaboutit · 14/02/2015 08:34

Muddha Grin same!

Fugghetaboutit · 14/02/2015 08:35

I like Sidney, pretty timeless. I'm trying to imagine a grown man called Arlo and can't.

ClementineAndCordelia · 14/02/2015 14:51

We are now thinking of Idris nn Sid - thoughts ?

itssangriaoclock · 15/02/2015 09:40

Love baby sid. There are a few arlo'd around it just makes me think that someone can't pronounce Harlow correctly.

pilates · 15/02/2015 09:48

Idris is v nice, but how can it be a nickname for Sid. They are two separate names aren't they?

diddl · 15/02/2015 09:57

I really like arlo.
Like Milo as well.
Jethro?

ScaryChicken · 15/02/2015 10:42

Idris is waaay better than either Sid or Arlo.

Do you have a Welsh connection?

ClementineAndCordelia · 15/02/2015 18:54

Yes we're Welsh , it would be nice to use a Welsh name like Idris as daughter's name is Irish . Would probably use Idi, Iddy, Siddy, Sid as possible shorts .

Sophronia · 15/02/2015 22:58

Idris is great.

ScaryChicken · 16/02/2015 00:01

In that case I would definitely go for Idris.

soundsystem · 17/02/2015 21:04

Sid! There seem to be lots of little Arlos...

Blondie87 · 19/02/2015 13:22

Love Arlo, not sure about Sid.

ChickenMe · 19/02/2015 20:26

I do like Sid, it's really sweet but I worry it's a snake's name?
Arlo has a nice sound (a la Marlowe, Harlow) but seems a bit faddy and pretentious.

Melonhead11 · 22/02/2015 15:29

Sid!
