Eve and Ava just too similar?

I think I already know the answer to this question but I just wanted to hear what others thought. We already have a DD (almost 4, named Eve) and are due to have another DC within the next few weeks. We have boys names picked out no problem but are struggling to agree on a girls name.

When pregnant with DD I adored the name Ava but DH was never really sure so it got forgotten about. This time round he's decided he really likes it and it's still very high on my list of favourites but is it just too similar to Eve?

Also on the 'possibles' list are:

Cara
Flora
Emily
Fern
Rosa

Probably all with the middle name Grace

But none of these I absolutely love! My other favourites which have been completely ruled out by DH are Ayla and Seren.

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Yes Eve and Ava are very similar. Eve and Flora would be lovely! That would be my favourite combination.

Yes they're essentially the same name.

As you already know really, Ava and Eve are too similar in sound. I think it would cause confusion.

Other possibilities: Rosie, Jessica, Chloe

Far too similar, it would be as though you couldn't be bothered looking for an original name.

From your list I like Rosa best.

Well.... I think you can do it! They won't be associated with each other forever, if you think she is an Ava then go for it, I'd say!

I also like flora from your list btw

Too similar.

Plus a lot of European countries pronounce Eva as Ava so when abroad people will think you have an Eve and an Eva.

I like Cara best from your list.

Flora is a lovely name but the connotations with margarine and that tag line still loom large for me and many others.

Lovely, and yes to pp. Eve and Ava are too similar.

Thought so, just needed it confirmed, thanks all! Flora seems a popular choice - it was DH's suggestion and whilst I do like it, I can't help but think of the margarine whenever I hear it! Won't rule it out just yet though. Pinkje, I've never seen Last Tango in Halifax so we didn't get our inspiration for Flora Grace from there!

Any other suggestions would be gratefully received? What are your opinions on Emmie, possibly as a nn for Emily?

Definitely too similar. I do feel your pain as one of my fav names for dc3 is too alike dd2s name. It can be tricky!! But as someone else wisely said, we have known europeans called eva pronounced ava so that immediately makes it extra confusing!

Eva and Emily is lovely. Love the name Emmy/Emmie. Of course that could be a nn for Emily

I don't think the similarity is an issue (I know twins Eva and Ava which I think is cute). I just don't think the world needs ANOTHER Ava at this point!

Well, I know of someone who called their twin boys Mark and Marcus, which raised an awful lot of eyebrows.

I think Emmie for Emily is very cute.

Love Rosa (also like Flora but like you I think of the margarine).

Would you consider Flory? I know a Romanian lady called this and think it's lovely.

Flora lovely too but it's a brand - spreads well isn't a nn anyone would want
Emily v popular, I can see why, reminds me of friends character
Fern nice, strong, maybe a little harsh, prefer Freya, a few celebs
Rosa nice if a bit boring

Ava if you really want it go for it, they won't be kids forever. I've heard of siblings with more similar names. It is very trendy though.
