I know a really sweet 6 year old. She goes by Dottie and loves her name!

It's lovely.

It's awful, really, really awful, sorry.

Love it - it's my mothers name and Dd's middle nameSmile

Yep, Theodora with Thea for short?
Dorothy, for me, just conjures up images of old ladies, the kind who knit incessantly, and bite chocolates and put them back in the box half-eaten when they realise it's not a soft centre! It also makes me think of cat-loving spinsters. Grin

Theodora means the same

I love it, wanted it for DD but was overruled.

Report
Rhubarbgarden · 02/02/2015 20:29

I like it. There are two Dots in dd's reception class.

TurboTheChicken · 02/02/2015 20:31

Totally biased but it's a beautiful name.

Everyone around here says DOR-thee and that makes the name hideous to me. With pronounced correctly I think it's ok. It's certainly not a graceful name, but it has spunk.

Report
thecaroline · 03/02/2015 04:07

*if pronounced correctly, sorry.

Report
Nolim · 03/02/2015 04:35

I dont like it too much

Report
FixItUpChappie · 03/02/2015 04:47

Hideous. You asked.

My nan was Doris.. She was always called Dot though. If I was having a girl she was going to be Dolly.
So Dorothy could be Dot, Dotty, or Dolly! I like it.

My mum's cat is called Dorothy. She gets called Dozzer.

Your DD might get called Dozzer too, don't do it.

DeanKoontz · 03/02/2015 12:45

I like Dorothy. Agree it's a classic that's due a revival.

howvembarrassing · 03/02/2015 14:04

I adore Dorothy. If I have another daughter, she will be a Dorothy.

Hm seems opinion is quite divided. Those who do like it, what other names do you like? Perhaps I can copy you x
