While oh and I disagree on a lot of names, the girls shortlist hasn't changed for a while now and I think we'll eventually settle for either Imogen, Isobel or Harriet - probably one of the first two.

Boys on the other hand have been a massive battle - we like similar names, just not the same. Except... I think we might be close to agreement on IsaacGrin

We've only got one bun baking at the moment but will most likely try for more. I've read (extensively) on here that same sex dcs with same initial is a big no no, but do the mn jury think there would be any probs with boy/girl same initial?

Fine if you just have two kids but gets a bit 'mountain dwelling Christian homeschooler' if you extend the trend to five or six kids.

I have two same sex, same initial, teenagers now and never had any problems. The only mail they ever receive is Birthdays cards - they don't have the same birthday, problem solved.

They have bank accounts but have on'line statements the same as the rest of us, they get magazines etc delivered - it has their full name on and they know who's stuff is what anyway. I really don't see what the issue is. Confused

I'm thinking that if anyone sends them a love letter they will probably put their name on the envelope rather than Mr C Xxxxxx

I agree that 3 or more starts to look like a theme though.

Who says that's a no-no? I think if you took into account every rule that has been put forward arbitrarily by someone at some point about names you'd be quite restricted. Your children will be individuals. I don't think this should be a major consideration - certainly not enough to not use a name you love.

My sibling and I have the same first initial - never caused us any problems.
