Boys names for my little fighter

So unfortunately we found out after our 20 weeks scan that our little boy has a heart abnormality. I won't go into details but it will mean open heart surgery within days of being born.

We really want to give him a strong, non ridiculous name as he will need to be a little fighter. Smile

Suggestions appreciated. We only have Max on our list so far.

Sorry to hear about your little one. You could name him Stephen after Stephen Sutton. Or Andrew means strong.

FauxFox · 24/01/2015 08:39

Remo means 'the strong one'
Ethan means strong
Leo 'brave as a lion'
Finlay means 'fair warrior'

Trooperslane · 24/01/2015 08:46

Cathal - Irish - strong in battle (KAhal).

Thanks Op

I know a child named Oakley, whose parents chose his name for very similar reasons to you. They wanted something strong and solid, and he has absolutely grown into his name.

I hope all goes well for you and your LO.

Leo is great.

SanityClause · 24/01/2015 09:24

There is a Turkish name, Yashar, which means life. I can't think of an English equivalent, but is that the kind of sentiment?

Nicholas means "the victor". Any good?

SanityClause · 24/01/2015 09:25

Christian, after Dr Christiaan Barnard?

HexBramble · 24/01/2015 09:25

If you're Welsh...
Llewelyn. Often shortened to Llew which means Lion.

Sending positive and healing vibes to you and your little fighter.

Leo - fabulous.
The Ll letter for Llew is a bit of a mouth twister for non welsh speakers (wasn't being unnecessarily separatist).

Sophronia · 24/01/2015 11:14

Leonard - means 'brave lion'

Cliffdiver · 24/01/2015 11:17

Another vote for Leonard / Leo.

I hope everything goes well with his surgery Flowers.

myotherusernameisbetter · 24/01/2015 11:42

Alexander, Andrew and Alistair all have similar defender/fighter meanings I think.

Zachary means Remembered by God.
