Oh, she loves the song... Elkie brooks sings it, and if I never had another dd, Elke would be her name!

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/01/2015 22:47

I like it. I know one my age (26), it was very unusual when we were at school together.

I rather like Greta too, which is Norwegian (or Swedish/Danish) for Pearl.

ToffeeCaramel · 21/01/2015 20:23

I like Daisy, Laila, Maggie

I think Pearl is making a comeback the number of times I've heard it lately. About time too. Beautiful name.

I love it. I know an older lady called Pearl and she's just lovely. She brings every quality you'd like to the name - gentleness, grace, charm, kindness, sweet nature. It's a beautiful name.

Jack Osborne has a Pearl.

I love Pearl!

squoosh · 22/01/2015 11:13

I think Pearl sounds a bit brassy too. She fries eggs wearing a pinny and with a fag hanging out of her mouth. She has nicotine coloured hair and a gentleman caller called Bert.

I love Maggie though.

IsadoraQuagmire · 22/01/2015 12:28

I used to know a girl called Pearl. She hated it, but I thought it was a gorgeous name!

harryhausen · 22/01/2015 12:33

My dd10's middle name is Pearl and she really likes it. It was my DGM's name and the name of the street we lived on.

I love itSmile

Had a friend called Margaret. One notable school report said, 'Margaret, as her name implies, is a pearl in our midst, whose lustre never dims.' Wow.

squoosh · 23/01/2015 16:24

Wowzers. That teacher had a bit of a pash on ole Margaret.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 23/01/2015 17:30

Indeed! Margaret was nice, but not that nice. Smile

happyfeet1 · 23/01/2015 23:59

I love Pearl, seriously considered it for dd3 but our surname starts with 'L' so it wouldn't have worked at all.

Go for it it's beautiful.

MsCoconut · 24/01/2015 01:00

I like Pearl.

But like vitaminc pointed out, if you really can't decide, formally use the name Margaret/Marguerite, then you can shorten it to Pearl or Daisy and your husband can shorten it to Maggie.
