What do you think of the name Taliesin? About to start ttc and me and my partner love it, just wanted to get some feedback!

There's also Thierry

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 09/01/2015 12:37

I have always loved the name.

If my womb-inhabitant proves 2 sonographers wrong and comes out male, it's on my top 3 list! (the other 2 being Aneurin and Macsen)

SunnyBaudelaire · 09/01/2015 12:41

it is a lovely name, go for it

SunnyBaudelaire · 09/01/2015 12:43

also it cannot be too hard even for English people, Tally-ess-in - simple.

ChocolateTeapotsDontWork · 09/01/2015 14:29

I read it as Tally-sin, never heard of it before and looks nice written down.

BestIsWest · 09/01/2015 19:39

Love it and I like Tal or Tali as a nickname.

lebkuchenlover · 12/01/2015 15:10

I like the look and sound of it, although I don't know any real life ones (yet).

soundsystem · 12/01/2015 22:43

I love it, it's top of my list if I ever have a boy! My daughter's name is an less-used Welsh name and most people in London manage ok after they've been told how to pronounce it.

JemimaMuddledUp · 12/01/2015 22:47

Love it. I know several, most known as Tali for short.

I like it, not overused but nice sounding. Tali is a cute nickname.

spiderlight · 13/01/2015 10:12

Love it!

BlueSpottedWindmill · 13/01/2015 15:01

my sister is Taliesyn. We pronounce it Tal A Sin. I really like it.

BlueSpottedWindmill · 13/01/2015 15:03

Actually, maybe it's more Tal lah sin. We call her tally for short. At least we would if we still spoke to her!

MB34 · 13/01/2015 15:35

My DS1 is called Taliesin (it's pronounced Tal-yes-in) as my DH has always really loved the name.
DH is first language welsh and is really proud of his welsh upbringing/culture/heritage etc so he wanted a name that reflected that. As we couldn't agree on any names and I wasn't that keen on the full version, we compromised and had Taliesin on the birth certificate but we call him Tal. (Although it has grown on me and I do like it now)

Harrin · 15/01/2015 23:29

I know a girl with this name. She's in her 20s and pronounces it Tally-ace-in. She is known as Tally and hates that it's a boy's name

BestIsWest · 16/01/2015 10:06

I've never heard it used as a girls name but think it's a lovely name for a girl.
